Allergy meds...

They call me ... Sarcasmo
Larry, if it's just a runny nose and sneezing, I take just plain old Benadryl in the blue box. It says specifically "runny nose" and it always works like a charm with no drowsiness (for me at least).

OR

you could just take two tiissues and stuff them up your nostrils.

According to the scratch tests, I am allergic to everything BUT dogs - thank goodness! After several combos of meds and inhalers and bouts of pneumonia - I use singulair, nasonex and astelin. For additional relief, I have allegra-D or deconamine as needed. On stand-by is a nebulizer unit :yikes: and we keep three air purifiers going! :lmao: And advair.. Oh, and allergy shots. :roflmao: weekly... Probably a little more advanced than you need!!
What type of air purifiers do you use? I have allergy induced asthma and carry an inhaler and we've been discussing the need for purifiers for the bedroom and family room. There are so many different kinds of purifiers I would like to know which ones people find most effective. I have three dogs that sleep in the bedroom. Thanks. :flowers:

...sleeves.

I can breathe today. WTF?

Anyway, I should have clarified; it's the cement head crap that bugs me once in awhile.

...you think we're so stupid that we'd just go ahead and fall for that old gag?

Ha. I know how this works. I'll ask now what the next step is.

Loratadine, once daily. Keeps me clear about 10 months out of the year. The rest I just deal with.

No side effects at all. No drowsiness, no excessive dryness, nothing. It takes a few days to start working though. And it doesn't make me want to talk to guys in the bathroom.

I take Allegra-D and Flonase in the morning, and Singulair at night. I also have an inhaler. It works pretty well during the day, but I have problems at night when I go to bed.

The thing is, I'm not even sure anything works or what works! I just know that my eyes water, sinuses clog, head pounds, nose runs, sneezes hit - the whole shabang - harder without anything. So... here I go, here I go, here I go again! :lmao:

I've taken most of all of the above but since my youngest has seasonal allergies like me just without the sneezing but the red eyes and constant sniffing. The doctor prescribed Zaditor and Loratadine 24hr non-drowsy relief. :yay:

I will not lie I use my son's medicines when I forget to take a drowsy allergy pill 24hr before bed and I don't want a fit all day at work. But it's my insurance that pays for it and since the pharmacist at CVS just went to the aisle and pulled the boxes off the shelf I can replace them. Also, they are dissolvable so no water is needed. But, I learned that my son can swallow pills whole without water. Greediness pays off.

For myself I buy anything OTC mainly Claritin and Benedryl or CVS Benedryl. But, if you have the money I say go for what you know because when I got it I do. You know, when I am not lifting my kid's meds.

:yeahthat: Zero side effects. Buy it at BJs for less than half the cost of Claritin D. Keeps me free of allergy problems about 95% of the time. I still have about 2 weeks every spring where it isn't quite strong enough, but I just suffer through them and wait for summer.

It's effective enough to allow us to keep a long-haired cat in the house.
