well, how many others woke up to the blaring "alert tone" early this morning about a 7 year old in Pikesville. Only to be redacted an hour later?

theres a lot of unanswered questions.....

I was annoyed because the alert only had the tag #/make of the vehicle. Nothing more. Description of the perp or child? Where was this, and does it even apply to me? If you're going to shock me out of a sound sleep, at least tell me something .

A few years ago I made a post on a police site complaining about getting one at 3am for somewhere north of the beltway. I was met by cries of but it's for the children...

Lost my soul at 12:30am to my cell phone going off because of it. Scared me so bad and then had to listen to it going off in both my boy's rooms until they woke up and turned it off.

I silence my phone except for calls, or so I thought. I sleep with the phone 2 feet away from my head in case Mommy Dearest calls in distress, in the middle of the night. This was beyond annoying for me.

On your phone you can adjust settings to stop amber alerts if you want
its called wireless emergency alert. search for it on your phone. click alert type, turn off AMBER alert.
I don't have Wireless Emergency Alerts listed anywhere on my phone. :ohwell:

I found this website that has steps with samsung phones. I know samsung phones can be wonky with their UI.
Yes, I saw that. I have nothing that says Wireless Emergency Alerts so I can't disable it that way. Luckily this rarely happens so I'll live with it.

Settings - Sounds and Vibration - Emergency Tone
Set it to Silent. But this will also turn off weather alert tones.
