AMS - Tires

I can't say enough good things about Annapolis Motor Sports.. They maybe a little distance away but they always come through for me.

I DESPERATLY need two tires for my bike..

Did a price check on SWMoto (the cheapest tires on the internet so I've been told) and AMS beat their price.

If you order one tire SWMOTO charges $14 dollars for shipping, two they ship for free. With two tires and free shipping, SWMoto wanted $258.90 for the two, and I'd have to find a way to mount them.

AMS.. $255 for the pair and next day delivery to their shop.. they charge a minimal fee for mount and balance. Bring your wheels off the bike and save a bundle of $$$$, the big expense on tire changes on bikes is the manhours it takes to get the wheels off of the bike.

I've bought everything from brakes, farkle, helmets and tires from them, and I keep going back for more.

I TRIED to give Motovations my business.. They could get me Metzlers in two or three weeks.. they could get me Dunpops or Avons today, but for about $50 more then the tires I want from AMS.

AMS can get me the tires I want the next day.. and match the cheapest internet price.

And I'm just a VERY satisfied customer, and as I'll come on here and complain about a business when they do me wrong, I'll come on here and praise them if they do me right!

Is it still cost effective figuring the 150 mile, 4 hour round trip to AMS and back?

255 plus tax is 267.75, so they did not beat the price. False Advertising

Just gives me an excuse to go to Annapolis for the day, take the kids to the mall while they do my tires.. go out to eat at Bertucci's..

The kids (and Tracey I think) look forward to me needing tires.. We'd go to ANnapolis anyways (probably more frequently) even if not for the tires..

I BELIEVE $255 includes tax..

And it's a local business, and good people, I'll go out of my way, and pay a LITTLE (over internet prices) extra to give them my business.

BMW dealer wants $310 just for the back tire..

It's a LOT more local than an anonymous business on the internet.

It's a business owned by someone that you can meet and talk to that lives in MD..

The money they make will be spent (more than likely) in Maryland..

If someone MORE local can do as well, I'd give them my business, but I haven't found anyone yet.

It's 60 miles away, not an unreasonable distance.
Before I got the flat was contemplating riding the bike up there, removing the front wheel in their parking lot, let them change out the tire, put the wheel back on and ride home.. it is a nice ride.

I do most of the work on my bike myself. I just want to be competent enough to handle what happens when I'm on the road. The tires most people go somewhere for. Without a mounting machine changing a tire is a real chore. And balancing well I don't know enough about it to try it yet.

A good motorcycle shop you can trust and has reasonable prices. 60 miles is nothing. You have to be comfortable with the people who work on your bike. After all, when you have a problem with a motorcycle it isn't always as simple as pulling over to the side of the road.

150 miles for tires is just a warm up ride..

Good golly miss molly. I have been known to ride over 1000 mile for tires. Why one might ask. Because it is just one of a multitude of reasons to go for a ride! 400 mile round trip to Long Beach, WA for some of the greatest clam chowder known to man at Duggers. 450 miles for that nice little microbrew place in Newport, OR. Took a 6000 mile romp last summer to see the world from the top of Bear Tooth Pass. Worth every friggin mile.

You want to read of other reasons, go visit the Iron Butt Rally 2007 site. These people just ride for points and the title of toughest rider int he world!

Tis not about the destination but the journey to get there! If you have to ask, perhaps you are currently utilizing the wrong form of transportation.

It isnt the rain that makes a ride uncomfortable, its the cheap leaky riding gear that makes a rainy ride uncomfortable!!!!

I've got a coats 200 (predecessor to the 220) which is the same overall design as the nomar. Nice unit and pretty easy to use. If I were to buy new I'd definitely go with the Nomar, I think it's get a better clamping system, less prone to rim slippage and scratches.

I've also got a static balancer, they work pretty damned well. I just HATE paying someone $20 to $50 per tire to mount and balance. Not to mention the time to take your wheels in, have to do it during store hours, etc etc.
