An idea for developers

But getting back to the cottages with a common area, rather than a large yard ... I would think they would be a good seller .. just the right size for empty nesters, singles and seniors.

yes, because I will be able to move up to a supervisory position. So at that time,I would be able to purchase a better home. My situation right now is that I live in a mobile home and it is on a leased private lot and my landlord is selling the property. I looked into a home that is a double wide on a half acre but I am having trouble finding a lender who will mortgage a double wide.

I looked into purchasing land but the lender would not mortgage it until I had a foundation under my mobile home on the lot.

Then rent an apartment, save your money, and buy when you can afford it.

WTF.

but I own the mobile home.. I guess I could find lot rent someplace

WTF - was that necessary????

I didn't read that you owned the Trailer?

Sell it, rent an apartment, invest your money and save up for your dream home.

In Charles County there's a building limitation that says homes must be at least 1,650 sf or larger. Is there anything similar in St. Mary's?

Regardless, the land costs alone would make $100,000 homes more or less impossible, a developer would have to be building at a financial loss on the whole project.

That sucks. Considering my 1100 Finished SF house is below the minimum, and it's still more than I really need, that's just stupid.

Believe it or not, as of a few years ago "micro houses" were picking up in popularity. We're talking 600 SF or less, a shoe-box, but that's what some people want.

Little shoebox homes, 3br, 2ba in Cliffton, new are running $299k. Way too much IMO.

Wife and I can't wait to head to a cheaper area and move into a nice 2br place with no yard. I grow bonsais but hate yard work, hence, no yard for me.

It's really tough out in this neck of the woods and only going to get worse.

Another cost forgotten is the school seat the developer/builder has to pay, up to $16,500 now in Charles.
