iPhone 4. Commercial apps and their standard apps crash all the time and the whole system crashes frequently. I will never buy another Apple product again.

iHate iPhone.

Apps? i-phones? Androids? Whatever?

Cell phones are for voice comms. Anything else is just laziness.

If you say so...

Like in not addicted to the latest tech?

Do you think voice comms - talking - is not a bad, outdated thing?

Unfortunately, verbal comms are becoming a thing of the past.

Oh, well.....

To paraphrase a previous poster on this thread, screw i-anything.

Apple is/was Jobs - popsicle-man with a black turtleneck. A genius, yes. Putting people in the "cloud", where face-to-face, or verbal communications is not necessary, not so much.

I absolutely agree about keeping good communication skills, but to act like mobile technology is a bad thing is ludicrous.

I pay my bills, book travel, carry work docs, keep my scheduler, buy tickets, keep my movies/music, find various places/things in a new place, etc. All within seconds. Can I do these things the old, conventional way? Sure, but if it saves time and makes things easier why not.

I spend much of my personal/professional life traveling, and it's made it so much easier. Just because people enjoy or benefit from technology doesn't mean they are addicted or have isolated themselves to it.

Good for you. I'm on this website, correct?

I have no problem with technology. Tell your kids about it. Grand kids.

There's a real good chance, if not now, then very soon, they will say "text me or e-mail me - I don't have time to talk right now".

"Cat's in the cradle with a silver spoon
Little Boy Blue and the Man In The Moon,
When are you coming home dad,
"I don't know when",
But we'll get together then, son,
You know we'll have a good time then".

Good luck with life, family, and modern technology.

The less you know about yourself and people close to you, the more the left and technology loves ya, man.

I am not quite sure why you are trying to link politics to technology. Or better yet how the hell the "left", has any input on the amount of technology someone uses.

hey ETC/others - I am looking at Android phones/Sprint - I've been due for an upgrade since last April, so figure I need to maybe make the leap from my flip phone to Android?

I've been trying to keep it simple by using flip phones. I really don't want a big learning curve to a driod. you know? Any suggestions as to which of these (offered by Sprint to me at $100 or less net cost to me and have 4 stars) may be best for a newbie like me?

HTC Evo 3D
HTC Evo Shift
Motorola Photon 4G
HTC Evo Design 4G
Samsung Epic 4G
Motorola Admiral

Also another reason I've kept flip phones is that they fit in my pocket when I'm doing farm chores, and I like to have my phone with me. The touch screens look like they would be harder to keep in my pocket? (awkward size) I guess I'd have to lock the screen?

Of those listed, I'd probably go with the Motorola Photon 4G. It has some of the best specs for processor/RAM and Motorola tends to have very good build quality. However, since size is an issue, I'd suggest going to the store and playing around with each of them. Some people (like me) can handle big screens/phones and some people can't.

Also, if you get a 4G phone, you should probably turn off the 4G capabilities if you are not in a 4G area. The 4G radios will kill a battery in no time while searching for a signal. The store should be able to show you how to do that (it's not hard).

And about the lock screen...it will be there whether you want it or not (one of my peeves about Android). I had to download an app to bypass it.

I have a tendency to like Motorola products. I guess I'll check the Sprint store. I have small hands, so the flip phones have been a good size for me. Good to know about the 4G signal searching.

I tried to use several different friends phones to take pictures of them, and I wasn't touching the screen "just right" to operate the phone. So hence another reason I have avoided touch screens. Touch screens tend to be "touchy" about how they are touched it appears?
