Angels & Their Wings

I'm trying to find the book & verse in the Bible that talks about Angels and how many wings they have. I thought it was in the book of Issiah?

I know Revelations speak of Angels but I don't recall it saying anything specifically about how many wings Angels have, which I believe it's 6 but I will look through it again. Thanks.

Ezekiel describes creatures in his vision of God, but does not label them as "angels"

1:4 And I looked, and, behold, a whirlwind came out of the north, a great cloud, and a fire infolding itself, and a brightness was about it, and out of the midst thereof as the colour of amber, out of the midst of the fire.

1:5 Also out of the midst thereof came the likeness of four living creatures. And this was their appearance; they had the likeness of a man.

1:6 And every one had four faces, and every one had four wings.

1:7 And their feet were straight feet; and the sole of their feet was like the sole of a calf's foot: and they sparkled like the colour of burnished brass.

One thing I've been wondering, and I guess I'll check it out later, is where the image of angels with soft pillowy swan-like wings came from.


I would tend to think that angels wings more closely resemble a mammilian wing - like a bat's wings. Those types of wings would also lend itself to an image of covering one's face with them (I don't think bird's wings go that way).

Seraphim are only one of the types of beings known as angels. There are also cherubim (Bible says they have 4 faces and 4 wings), the "normal" angels most often encountered by mankind, and archangels. Some say there are other types of angles, too. There are other beings in the heavenly host other than angels such as the "wheels" with "eyes all around."

Oh don't even get me started on weirdo Tom Cruise. I feel sorry for that poor brainwashed Katie Holmes. He's ruined her career. He needs to get on his spaceship and fly away, far far away.

Question for thread starter: Why do you want to know how may wings seraphims/angels have? A craft project?
