Unfortunately, I've had the dubious pleasure of having to read and correct quite a few "licensed court reporter" transcripts in my day. It's what they do to you when you're fresh out of law school -- remember the "corrections" pages you receive?

I don't think you would know how to correct a licensed court reporter's transcripts if you tried. You probably just screwed them up.

So you are saying that anybody can take down, word for word, at 250 w.p.m. what somebody else is saying? Court reporting is a talent. I saw many, many people give it up when I was in school. They just couldn't do it. However, anybody can be a lawyer, I believe, but not many people have the desire to become one. I would not want to be classified as a lawyer, but that's because I have seen the evil in some of them. It's all about the $ for some and profiting from other's misfortunes. Still, there are some I have great respect for. Most of them are dead, though.

If you happen to be the 1 out of 30 (much higher for some schools) who applies to an accredited law school and is accepted, then you might have a chance to be an attorney if you don't happen to be in the 1/3 (much higher in some schools) who fails the first year. Ironically, I personally can take up to 250 w.p.m. which actually came in handy in law school. And, yes, before you ask I do qualify for MENSA.

I qualify for pre-menstral, but seriously, I wasn't going to ask if you qualify for MENSA. Thanks for letting us know, though.
