Okay, so many of us have been here already. We have very strong memories of what happened 2001 on... Bush won with a GOP congress. Conservatives and republicans were elated that conservatism will finally return to Washington and our government will leave us alone. History is written on that one, and they failed miserably.
So here we are again... A republican - who we really can't call a conservative - president and a republican congress.
Let me step back for one second about what Trump winning means in terms of this congress. His win should put all of these establishment goons on notice. The people are sending a clear message that they don't want business as usual anymore. No so much that Trump is the guy that accomplish this (although he could), but that the people put him there for that very reason.
So, the GOP has been given another chance to prove themselves as the party of the people and not the party of the government. They have been given this huge gift to really fix the things that are broken: illegal immigration, Obamacare, our courts, smaller government, less spending, taking care of our vets, and somehow trying to heal the divides that plague our society.
As excited as I am about this win, I also go into this new government with a certain level of trepidation. This isn’t so much about Trump as it is about the entire congress and actually pull the reigns back on big government, too big to fail, endless failing wars and more dead Americans… They better get it right this time.
