Another DEM led city, Jackson Mississippi

We have a President who calls us white Supremacist, Domestic Terrorists, semi-fascists, and says we threaten Democracy because we voted for Trump. He appointed his Press secretary and his pick for SCOTUS because they are black, not because of their expertise. but you know why I stated that even white run Democrats cater to the blacks who live in their cities. Damn you are brilliant. You know it all.

Funny Joe Biden once said if you don't vote for him you aint black.
But you don't see the president and his party catering to blacks?
That's just me I guess, but I don't pussy foot around denying what i see.

It's interesting how, when a Democrat run city has problems, they cast about for a Republican to blame.

If the Governor is a Republican, they blame them.

If the Governor is another Democrat, they blame the Republican President.

If the President is also a Democrat, they blame the previous Republican President. Or they cover up the story and stop reporting it, like they're doing right now with SF, LA, and NYC.

Remember how, when Reagan and then Bush was President, there was an enormous homeless problem and the news was filled with it? Then they all disappeared when Bill Clinton took office, only to resurface when Dubya came in.

Also, what's going on with Detroit? Did they magically fix all their problems the second Biden took his oath of office?

The citizens need to demand that the city council of Jackson be audited and the mayor as well as the council be recalled. This water problem is not something that happened as a result of a natural disaster, they knew this was a problem as far back as mid 2020.

Mississippi Shrinking

Somebody with more expertise than myself should look closely at the data table below and try to figure out why, say, stable Montgomery, Ala., is doing better than shrinking Birmingham, Ala. Is there some methodological reason involving annexations? Is it just because Montgomery is a state capital with white-collar jobs while Birmingham is an old steel town? Or did Montgomery’s city fathers really hit on some winning strategies, as they like to brag?

Even with all the randomness caused by political changes in boundaries, the general patterns are clear. It’s not that highly black cities are necessarily doomed to eventual desolation, but they do tend to be at risk.

How does the U.S. avoid more urban death spirals of the kind seen in Jackson? How do we make it more in the interest of nonblacks to help urban blacks by supplying needed taxes and competence?

The single most positive step toward encouraging other races to want to live in cities with lots of blacks would be for blacks to lower their murder rate, which is currently about an order of magnitude higher than the white rate, down toward the Latino rate, which is only a little more than double the white rate.

But instead, our leaders have been egging on black bad behavior. If elites don’t knock off their irresponsibility, we can look forward to two, three, many Jacksons.

Can anyone name a city or country run by blacks that is successful and fit to live in?

Just asking.

Even after European colonizers left Africans functioning nations such as Rhodesia or the Belgian Congo, it only took a few years for the natives to run those places to ruin. Rhodesia was a net food exporter. Under Mugabe, they had to import 80% of thier food because the locals couldn't run the once successful white owned farms.

A culture of incompetence, endemic corruption, dignified ineptitude, and, chief among all, destructive selfishness and greed has played a major role in its unravelling. The same, sadly, can be said for most other African nations. States like Zimbabwe, Cameroon, and Equatorial Guinea are farcical democracies ruled by men who exclusively cater to their interests and those of their clipped circles.

Thus, it is no surprise that in the absence of any healthy black nation — in the midst of chaos, senseless wars, corrupted religiosity, violence, and economic collapse — African and Caribbean people leave home en masse. They beg on the streets of Greece, prostitute in the red-light zones of the Netherlands, and make up 40 percent of the migrants flocking to Europe.

How did this happen? Residents, politicians, experts and activists say systemic racism is the root cause.

Yes, because of course it is. Systemic racism is at the heart of all of America’s ills, so why not a once-in-a-century flood, right?

The root of all of these problems began back in the 1980s according to this analysis. That’s when Jackson’s schools were racially integrated. There was an immediate surge of “white flight” as Jackson’s white residents moved to the suburbs or out of the area entirely. Middle-class working Black families who could afford to do so followed them. Municipal revenue plunged as crime soared and property values (along with property tax revenue) dropped. Jackson no longer had enough productive, taxpaying citizens to fuel the needs of a city and maintenance of public infrastructure including sewage and water treatment declined.

Some of the quoted commentators are claiming that the water outages and sewer issues are “disproportionately impacting communities of color.” That may indeed be true, but a quick glance at Jackon’s demographic information will inform you that the city’s population is currently 80% Black. I’m not sure the impact is “disproportionate” when communities of color comprise nearly the entire city. Anything that happens for better or worse will impact a majority of that size.

As many observers are pointing out, the public water system in Jackson has been in decline for years and everyone knew it. State and federal grants were awarded to bring things back to a functional level, but the money somehow never seemed to be enough. All it was going to take was one serious weather event to push the system past the brink and this summer that event arrived.

So with all of that in mind, was this crisis caused by racism? Or was it caused by administrative incompetence and a failure to properly prioritize municipal spending? Most of the “white flight” in question took place more than 40 years ago. A significant portion of the current residents weren’t even born yet then. And as the headlines reveal, none of this was a secret. The city’s infrastructure had been failing for a generation at least and the most that was done amounted to fiscal bandaids on a far more serious wound.

Perhaps if they didn't culturally allow, or even foster, criminal activity, there'd be no reason for anyone to move out?

Just a thought.
