Turnips taste like a cross between a potato and cabbage, but not starchy like potatoes, and parsnips are more carroty.

This morning I started the crockpot with a big pot of homemade beef stew. I walked in from work this evening and the house smelled wonderful. Bob made some cheddar-garlic biscuits to go with the stew.

It was a great meal for a drizzly, cool evening.
