The hot wire (black) is daisy chained to another switch or socket.
The hot wire switched (red) goes to the light fixture.
The neutral wire (white) to complete the circuit is at the light fixture.
Double check with a meter to verify which wire is hot and which is switched hot.

Yeah - I managed to noodle it all out yesterday and my new switch is actually installed and working as expected. My top keypad button is toggling the load and I'm programming the other buttons to handle media and other stuff now. It's so cool.



Do you know if the wires are in a conduit?


I'm going to guess they are, but honesty I have no way of knowing. The back of the gangbox is a mess of drywall paint and wires.
