My kids look forward to going to SPUMPS VBS every year but it dosen't look like they will have one this year. Any others that anyone could recommend in the Calvert area would be appreciated.

The kids are starting to get bored even with the beach, pool and friends to play with! Thanks for the help! :howdy:

Today there is a good one that is in Huntingtown. It is the baptist church right before the 7-eleven, across from the park & ride. It is all day and they go on field trips. :yay: I know they go to discovery zone in Baltimore for one place. My kids liked it. Hard to believe it is free.

My kids are going to this VBS and they loved it today. Tomorrow they are going to Breezy point beach. Then Thursday they are going to Port Discovery. Yes it is all free. Glad that there are still good place to take your kids that don't cost an arm and a leg.. You figure they go from 9Am-4pm, They get snacks and lunch, T-shirt, activities, and field trips... To bad this is the last week... I am so glad my friend told me about this. Come to find out both of my sons had friends in their classes. I think this will be on our list for the years to come. Even thou it might be too late to sign up this year, you at least will know about it for next year....

I actually got my kids in this morning to the VBS. They had a great time too! Had friends in their classes that they already knew also. I need to find more things to do after this week is done too! Any ideas?

This doesn't have to do with VBS but the libraries are doing stuff this summer on Tuesdays and Wednesdays . Next week there will be a magic show and the week after I think is a show about reptiles. The shows are at a couple of community centers and Dunkirk Fire Department and The Prince Frederick volunteer fire department. Plus the library has evening storytime also for families.

Yup! It was my first time going there. That place was a bit too busy for me. Did you go too? My kids are having a great time at the VBS.

I was thinking of maybe looking into the Upward Cheerleading there. Has anyone ever tried it? We did PF Eagles last year.

Thanks! I love the magic show and Reptile show. Banna Boy was my kids favorite at the reptile show ... they even touched him at the end. I higly recommend both of the shows for little guys.

Yes I went.. I have to agree it was way too busy. It was my first time as well. I think that the church should of left earlier. The kids really had no time to play. But then again how much time do you really need in that place??

So what age group are your kids in and what age group did you go with?
Tonight is the family picnic.. Hubby and I will be there.

I was READY TO GO when we left! It was fun but I had enough fun for the afternoon. I am one of those silly, overprotective moms and it was so hard to watch the kids while we were in there. I heard someone say that they only have 2 hour time slots for the tickets anyways so we actually didn't cut ourselves that short on play time for the kids if so. I may like to go back there if I could ever know of a time that it wasn't so crazy.

I have 2 kids in the VBS one in the 3/4th Grade for my boy and then K for my daughter. I rode on the K bus because my neighbor was with my son on his bus with his daughters. What groups are your kids in?

Do you know what time the family picnic is? I will proabably be there. My hubby may still be working though. Maybe we can meet up tonight at the picnic so we can put a face with our screen names.

Have a great day! :howdy:

Ha!!! This is soo funny! I was on the K bus as well...... I was the mom in the orange shirt. Yeah, my friend who went told me to wear a orange shirt so that way we are part of a leaders.. Was she ever wrong. I am going to get her for that. Brandon is my son... I know what you mean about trying to keep those kids together. I let them play in the middle maze part for the most of the time but when it got closer to go, I tried to entertain them by going through the different rooms..

Plus, you would of thought that those kids would of fell to sleep on the bus ont he way back. They were louder coming back. My oldest boy is int the 5th grade class..

As for the picnic I think that 4pm is when the go to the main building for a show. I think? Then around 5:30pm is when the picnic start.. I need to start making my dessert. If everyone is bring dessert then there is going to be alot of hype up kids.....

This time I will not be wearing orange!! :lmao:

Well See ya tonight!! :howdy:

So, My hubby had this bright idea that we go out after the picnic. Well, I felt so over dressed it was not even funny....... We had planned on just staying for a little bit then dropping the kids off with sister-in-laws house so we can go out.. We ended up staying at his brothers house. Yea, what fun... I wanted to go to rams head tavern... We were suppose to go to Annapolis afterwards.. Darn him.. Make me uncomfortable at the cookout so I can sit at his brother house. That it he is in the dog house...

Wow! You are great! How did you find out about all the VBS stuff? Which church is it in Dunkirk? Thanks! :howdy:

It is Dunkirk Baptist right past McDonalds. My kids went today and they did not like it too much. They want to go back to the other VBS. By the way Dunkirk is also doing Arctic Edge. My oldest said that they are going to learn karate.

I find out about these VBS because my sister-in-law does a scope out on all of the VBS in Calvert and local areas. She has them sign up already for next week at A church in Friendship... She is on the ball..

I really liked Emmanuel Church. I am thinking about attending the Sunday service to see how they are.. Now Dunkirk has Rick Hancock as their Pastor. He is a wonderful speaker. I love his services... Trust me you will not sleep during his sermons...

Thanks so much for all the suggestions. We went to Waters Church last week in the evening for VBS and the kids liked it. They still said they loved the other VBS more in Huntingtown but they also had lots more time on a full day program too.

Any other suggestions for what's left of summer???

I know the PF library on 7/26 is doing Wizard of Oz puppet show @ 2, 7/29 Movies on Main Street - Finding Nemo!!! , and 8/2 PF Library Reptile World.
