If you happen to make it to Misawa and go to a bar called the "Sunflower" tell Mika I remember her fondly. :yay:

P.T. If you don't want to go can I have the job? Spent three years over there and didn't get to see all the country. Everyone talks of their Okinawa experience but you don't say where the job is located? If it's on the main island, you'll not have enough free time to do all the sites (but you better try). You can eat just about any type food you like over there (they cater to everyone in the world) and most of the people speak a little Engrish. Those who don't will still try to help you.

Let us know where the job is located, how much free time you might have and if it's possible to extend the stay for four years (you are really going to love it once you get there).

There are hundreds of Japanese blogs. I check out http://www.planetkyoto.com/nils the blog of an American who works over there in Kyoto. He posts pictures from around Japan and the Orient. His page has lots of links to others in or from Japan.

Well, I applied for it...

time will tell.

I don't yet know where it is. I'll make some phone calls next week to find out more about it. I think I've got a pretty good shot at getting it, but you never know with this company. More than likely, they've already had a person picked out for it before the job was posted.

It's for a program that I've worked before and I have all of the qualifications 'cept for the minimum required years of experience, and all that means is that if I get it, it will be another promotion for me. That's the only way really to get ahead in the company.

If any of us have any experience in that part of the country we can give you lots of advice (won't we anyway?). Be sure to take advantage of cheap air fares to Asia and see lots of the continent.
