Same here but there is always a line for drivers side fillers. I would just back in but I don't want the gas pump police to give me a ticket. :bawl:

I try to use the stations that claim to have "extended hoses" and pull up to the passanger fill side and stretch the hose across the back of the car.

Dang Catt... talk about obsessing... Pete post about a topic and suddenly you are an expert...oh brother...

I should have made a poll. Must be I only get gas on drivers side day.
Hubby's Ford is on the driver's side however my Chevy is on the passenger.
I think Honda is on the driver's side as well. Then again, maybe it is just you:shrug:

Maybe it's just me but I've notice that most cars have their gas filler caps on the opposite side of the tailpipe(except of course for dual exhaust ones). I guess they don't want the hot exhaust pipe any closer to the gas pump. Just an observation.

I don't like those extended hoses. They say they reach but juuuust barely around the Ford. I loved my Xterra because it had a passenger side tank. When we drive up the East coast and there are super long lines at the gas stations along the Jersey turnpike (where you really can't back in), I loved having a passenger side tank - you can zip right in.

AHA! See

Last night when I went to (that place) the kids and I did a car survey in the Wildewood parking lot. Out of 45 cars 29 had drivers side fillers for 64%. combine that with the 22 cars from yesterday and that makes 70%.

Hmm, maybe that has to do with the demographics of this place and what people here tend to buy. Maybe the passenger side gas filler cars are the fancy dancy ones that the city-folk buy (Mercedes, BMW, etc).

Anyway, for my cars:

VW Jetta - passenger
Subaru Legacy - passenger
Chevy Silverado - driver

And what about the cars with dual exhaust? I guess, for the most part, those cars have one mid-pipe that runs down one side. And I guess the filler door would be on the other. I'll have to look underneath my Legacy to see...

Sounds like a rollicking good time. Sorry I missed it. Mine is on the passenger side.

so when do we have a VTC with your .ppt presentation?

Pete... despite using an alias and false location I recognized you immediately.

Dear Heloise:
Here is my pet peeve with automotive engineers/designers: Why can't they put the gas tanks all on the SAME side of vehicles? What a pain at the gas station to have cars driving in both directions to get to their tanks. Pick one side -- driver's or passenger's -- and make all vehicles the same. Thanks for listening. -- Kevin Russell, Midland, Mich.

Just let it go, dude... :eyebrow:
