Nope, never even heard of the things until now. Kinda makes you wonder what exactly they put into the plastics to discourage bacterial/fungal growth. I just love antibiotics in/on my vegetables.

What a bullcrap commercial! They let veggies/fruit sit out for two weeks. Good gosh, don't buy more then you can use in a week.

They saythey are good for ten uses. So how do you keep track? Magic Marker them? I have said it before, never buy anything like that as advertised on TV. Don't get me started on a rant about Billy Mays and his adhesive.

So, the peticure thing I see advertised on t.v. is probably not a good idea?

In the Jul 08 issue of Consumer Reports it says: We put bananas, peaches, apples, melons, blackberries, strawberries, basil, asparagus, tomatoes, broccoli, grapes, lettuce and carrots in Debbie Meyer Green Bags for up to 5 weeks. We stored the same foods for the same length of time in Ziploc bags. Result: The food in the green bags had mold, some after 3 weeks. The same foods stored in other ways nearly always had less mold or none after the same test. Only the bananas fared significantly better in the green bags, after 2 weeks they were firm and had not turned black.
So if you believe Consumer Reports, don't buy them except for bananas.

My whole point for this was for bananas. I just bought green ones at teh supermarket 24 hours ago and they are already yellow. :tantrum: I can't buy them daily or every other day. By the time it's the 5th bananas turn to be eaten on the 5th day it's yucky!

On a side note ... I bought the pediegg at Walgreens yesterday and it was worth it. :yay:

I read in my mother's Old Tme Magazine if you seperate the bananas from the bunch they will stay green longer - I tried it and it works.

If you do a google search you can find multiple T.V. stations that do testing on the infomercial crap. "Will it work Wednesdays" or something of that matter. Oh and what do green bags have to do with SOMD?

I bought the green bags :howdy:

I separated my broccoli and mushrooms, storing one half each normally, the other in the green bags. I put all of my strawberries and blueberries into their own green bag.

I'm following the instructions and wiping out the moisture as I see it. So far, the broccoli looked the same - it has already been used. I definitely think the mushrooms stored better and the strawberries sort of halted their normal aging process where it was. The blueberries are TBD.

I saw the bags on TV and wanted to try them. And experiment. :nerd:

I Dremel my schnauzer. Works great. If DR already has a Dremel, all you need is the sandpaper roll attachment.

I'm sure he does. I'll have to check it out. After our last little "accident" at Petco, I'm not chancing taking her there again. :barf:

I can't use regular snips safely. My dogs have dark nails so I can't see how far to snip and they don't keep their paws still enough for me to chose where to snip and then actually snip before they move. My vet recommended I try the Dremel and it's all I've used ever since. It works fast, and you can maintain full control as to how far you grind the nail down.
