Anyone know of a shade loving rose bush?

bcp

In My Opinion
I want to load up a section of my yard with some roses.
the soil is going to be acid, and it will be shaded.

I was thinking silk, but I have been assured that this would look somewhat trailerish.. whatever that means.

dont know if you can picture it, but Im thinking of that hill to the left as you are looking down my driveway at the house.
thinking about doing a ground scraping and loading it with roses in the back ground, hostas in the forground. Most likely will try to leave as much of the perrywinkle as I can.

Not knocking your knowledge, but a knock out rose - though pretty and hardy, needs around 6 hours of direct sunlight each day. BCP says his area is pretty shady.

most shade forgiving rose there is....Seen it , done it.

Then you should write the growers of the knock out roses and all the other landscapers out there that go by this standard and get it changed:
"Plant these roses where you would plant other roses. They need full sun, minimum irrigation and well-prepared, well-drained landscape beds. They prefer a soil pH between 6.0 and 6.5."

I personally would not waste my money, as roses can be fickle creatures if not grown/planted and cared for as per recommendations. And spending upwards of $20++ per Knock-Out that requires full sun means you won't get your money back when it dies because you planted it in the shade. Whereas you can get something like a fairy rose, that has a proven track record of growing in the shade, and get 6 of them for $20, and have a much better investment.

However, since you know better than I, or the other growers out there, I'm sure you'll be more than willing to refund any monies that bcp spent on the knock-outs if they failed.

Are you serious? Knock-Outs are a trademarked rose that just came on the market in the last few years. They are not 55 years old. They also don't require pesticides. And any rose gardener would not recommend using DDT.
I think you need to go back to your greenhouse and keep on sniffing your chemicals.

Oh you are so right, I know nothing. But I do know Knock-Out roses are a newer hybrid rose, and you are talking out your butt right now because I pointed out it is a sun loving rose bush and bcp would be wasting his money. But since you know everything, then I am sure you will be willing to financially guarantee bcp success with his planting.

Do another google search...Knockouts only require 4 unlike most roses which require 6. :yay:
