Anyone know of a shade loving rose bush?

Do another google search...Knockouts only require 4 unlike most roses which require 6. :yay:
From the breeder and creator of the knock out rose (which is NOT a 55 year old rose) website
The Knock Out Rose
Prepare your rose bed by digging deeply. Select a planting site that receives at least 6 hours of direct sunlight daily and has good drainage. Dig a hole for each plant 15” to 18” wide and 18” deep. Build a mound of soil in the hole. This mixture should be 1 part organic matter and 2 parts soil. Organic matter can be in the form of manure, shredded leaves, or peat moss. You can mix the organic matter yourself or purchase it at your local nursery.

Now I'm not doubting that there may be some newer versions that need less sun, but I still think it's a waste of money for a shady area. But toppick believes this rose is 55 years old too.

I don't care, it isn't my money. But I don't think it's fair to advise someone to spend their money on something that's more expensive and isn't guaranteed to grow in a shady area.

Oh you are so right, I know nothing. But I do know Knock-Out roses are a newer hybrid rose, and you are talking out your butt right now because I pointed out it is a sun loving rose bush and bcp would be wasting his money. But since you know everything, then I am sure you will be willing to financially guarantee bcp success with his planting.

I know I can out cook you, out can you, out clean you, and out garden you...

Lady......you want me....don't you.:really:

You are a vile perverted man who says nasty things about people and to people. And I have already apologized to the ladies who can say "I Told you so" for giving you the benefit of the doubt and believing you were a decent man. I was wrong. You are a horrible repulsive man whom I avoid, and encourage others to as well.

Right now, your slimey nature is making my stomach roll.

Oh for God's sake, could we please get back on topic here...

I have a Zepherine Drouhin climber that does well in shade. It is also thornless (which is why hubby likes it!:lmao:). It is an antique rose so it basically only has one big bloom in late May & then intermittent repeating on a small scale. It has the most amazing scent! Here is a link I found that describes it ans also gives other suggestions for roses for partial shade. Deep shade is not a place to plant roses (I know, I've tried it many times), as they all need some sun to bloom.

Good luck bcp! :howdy:

that would do well with what Im thinking.
although I try to keep out of various arguments in the chit chat area, I do find this part of the write up of the Zepherine that deserves a quote.

Some rosarians say this is the best shade tolerant rose there is this side of Knock Out.

Maybe Topick is right about the Knock Out tolerating shade.
