Anyone use Kure spine specialists?

I agree 100%. Another Doctor. What killed me was the nurse didn't know where the liver is at...

I'm in the process of finding new doctors. I have no faith in my current one.

Get a copy of the disk and the report from the radiologist. They'll release it to you... that way you won't have to go through that again. Take it with you to the new doctor. A new doctor may want at CT scan of the abdomen.... if you don't have an allergy to shell fish it's a snap.... You'll need a blood test for a CT scan... it's routine.

For the record.... I had a doctor tell me to see a pain management specialist when my L5-S1 disk started impinging on a nerve.... I kept saying I wanted it fixed not managed. I finally got the insurance company [worker's comp] to authorize the surgery... I could walk and move pain free that very day after surgery.... they just shaved a little off the disk.... I've been good for years... pain free....

Good luck.

I have the disc of the MRI but not the writeup. I will call and ask for it tomorrow.

My last doc said I needed surgery. The exact surgery you had. But when he told me I had a 50%/50% chance of being injured worse or paralyzed, I said no. I would rather deal with the pain than not be able to walk. But that was 12-13 yrs ago too.

I had a CT (without contrast) & sonagram done of my abdomen two yrs ago and except for the cysts on my ovaries everything came back normal. There wasn't any discussion concerning contrast or shellfish. I am allergic to oysters, but not clams.

One of my close friends is going to give me her husband's doc's name and info. I will go from there. All I know is that this has to end because I hate being idle when I have so much energy inside me needing to get out! (I'm hyper)

I had the same speech about the possible accidents that can happen with the surgery. I was in so much pain that I decided it was worth the risk. If you get a truly excellent doctor the risks go down. Do your research before letting anyone cut on your spine.

The day of surgery, I grabbed the IV pole, walked to the elevator, rode it to the first floor and walked out to the gardens where people were allowed to smoke. I was a little embarrassed by the hospital gown but happy to be walking around pain free. It had been 2 years for me...

I used to transcribe McAfee's Charite disk procedures. He is a fantastic doctor! :yay: :yay:

Quite the character too. Though he's the head of a rather extensive group of skilled surgeons, he took my case on himself because it was unusual and presented quite a challenge. (Deconstructing old surgery and hardware...adding back new and two more fusions to boot.)

Fast forward a few months after the surgery and I'm doing great..completely pain free for the first time in 29 years. He is almost giddy like a school girl after one checkup and x-rays and pats himself on the back for such a job well done.:killingme

He deserved it though.
