anyone want a beagle

We adopted a beagle/dachsund in February, and sadly, he has turned out to NOT be the dog for us.
He is much higher energy than we can handle; although some might consider him still a puppy (2 or 2 1/2 yrs.)
He's been neutered and he has a microchip and is up on all of his shots. I'd prefer to find a home for him instead of taking him to a shelter.

Anyone like beagles?

Did you do any research at all on the dog breed before deciding to get it? Tried any training? Pretty petty to get rid of a two-year-old dog because it's too high energy. I'd take the dog if you can't find a rescue.

Did you adopt this dog from a rescue group? Just about every organization that I know of will take the dog back if it's not working out.

Actually, we adopted from a pound, which is why I've decided to look around for a home before bringing him back. It is my understanding that a pound will euthanize, whereas rescues do not. Of course, I could be wrong on that point; I haven't looked into it because we just decided last night that we can't do this anymore.

Two things never cease to amaze me on internet forums: firstly, that people fancy themselves wiser than the poster to whom they are responding; that somehow the person with the question/problem never thought of anything but the easy way out of their current situation.
Secondly, that people feel they need to defend themselves against these anonymous, snide assumptions. I find myself in the latter category, but will resist the urge to feed the attitude of righteous indignation.

Careful now, everyone on these forums that has a pet or pets considers them their children. I know I do.

and sometimes I like the dogs better than the kids. I'll always love the kids more, but sometimes I don't like them as much :burning:

My statement was only in response to the "joke" in a previous post. I love dogs and wish this one had worked out, but wrong family or wrong breed, it matters not.
I'll be desperately hoping that another opportunity presents itself, but we're sure to be more careful. Perhaps there is a reason for breeders as opposed to shelter dogs; you get exactly what you want vs. wanting what you get. Lesson learned, if there is a next time, we'll go to a breeder.

So happy!
I only have one boy and he's brown hair and brown eyes. He's super cool though. He's much more well behaved than the blonde hair blue eyed girl.

I'll take him. He'll fit in with the rest of the brown hair and brown eyes in the fam.
