Anyone want to school me on Digital camcorders

Well, Pete, you're on my #### list. Because of you, I went to Best Buy and checked out their camcorder and digicam selection. I came home and ordered a Sony Cybershot P200 camera and a Sony HC32 miniDV camcorder.

Camcorders are so tiny now! My old one was a PITA to drag around but this new one fits in my purse.

You think the HC32 would work for goofy Boy TKD videos and other goofing around I may do? You can be my secret shopper. Where did you order it from?

I got it from eTronics but but it was a few dollars cheaper at Best Buy. The reason I bought it from eTronics is because the camera was $60 less there and I wanted to get them all from the same place.

They had camcorders as low as $250. I got a little compact because I have small hands - you really want to go play around with all the brands and models before you buy.

Since nobody mentioned it...after you check them out at BB, find it cheaper online. I got my refurb JVC for $250. It's not top-of-the-line or anything, but it got good marks from cnet.com I'd also say stay away from DVD camcorders. The huge drawback there is that the DVD's only hold 30 minutes. MiniDV will hold 60-90 minutes depending on the quality setting. I really couldn't tell the difference between the high and low quality settings.

Oh yeah, since you mentioned it, there really is no megapixels on camcorders unless you are talking about still image capabilities (use it as a digital camera). There are also HD camcorders out there now that have higher resolution, but they also have higher price tags.

I still use it and like it. Good cam, good output, lots of features but not weird ones that I'll never use. I like the miniDV over the cassettes - it's a lot easier to deal with all the way around.
