Damned glad to meet you
Awesome.

This is one of my favorites and it seems fitting:

High Flight
by John Gillespie Magee

Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
Sunward I’ve climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth
Of sun-split clouds, – and done a hundred things
You have not dreamed of – wheeled and soared and swung
High in the sunlit silence. Hov’ring there,
I’ve chased the shouting wind along, and flung
My eager craft through footless halls of air…

Up, up the long, delirious burning blue
I’ve topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace
Where never lark, or ever eagle flew –
And, while with silent, lifting mind I’ve trod
The high untrespassed sanctity of space,
Put out my hand, and touched the face of God.

Obama has been out there crowing like a mofo about his so-called "legacy"... even though he gutted NASA to make the moose limbs feel special, or something.

Well, maybe in the sense that without the budget to fund disposable Faberge eggs for every mission, NASA had to a finally look at sustainable space. So he did lay the groundwork. He didn't intend that, I'm sure, the idea of private space probably gives him fits.

I didn't really ever see the flight surgeon stick his head in the capsule. Seemed like there was always recovery crew between him and the hatch.

I bowl overhand
I thought that only happened once, and it was a mistake on the crew's part. Normally they waited for the recovery ship..
There is some good Cell Phone video of the Apollo 11 recovery.. I think it was Grissom that blew the hatch on his flight (solo) and then followed up with torching the entire crew on his Apollo mission.
