Thanks for the insight...Not sure what you mean about apartment living and families?

I wasn't sure if you were single or not. So i meant there are people with kids that live in Abberly and kids arent always silent. There was an apt below us and the one guy who lived there would get mad at the kids playing outside(during the day) Oh and he made a noise complaint when my daughter fell getting out of the shower.

You will have that in any apartment complex. You will have that in any housing devolpment. There are ####### neighbors everywhere.

You're so right. I don't miss apt living at all. I love vacuuming when I want to, blasting my music when I clean and not having to walk up the steps to my door. I do miss the lower electric bill though:)

Never seen a low electric bill when I was in the apartment. Average during the summer was around $150, AC set at 72. Winter was around $175-$250 depending on the temp outside and whether or not we had neighbors, above or beside temp set at 68. 1 bedroom I think 680 sqft.

Our house is around 2200 sqft. split level Summer bills averaged about $125-$140, and so far winter has been around $175-$200. Makes no damn sense with almost 3 times the space, and we have the temp set around 71 during the summer and 72 in the winter.

I would still clean whenever I wanted to, 4 am was usually the time, and our neighbors for the longest time would play some strange music sounded like something from a circus all hours of the day. He didnt complain about us, so we did not complain about them. I did hear some nasty arguments between him and his wife though.

Um...wow...why are the electric bills so high? My rate/kw-hr if higher and the electric bill never hits $90...I have natural gas for heating so in the winter my electric is around $45. Don't have AC though, evaporative here in the desert. Not going to misses that but might once the bills come.

My highest electric bill hasn't been over $138. It usually averages about $75.00. I'm in a two story house, about 1680sf.

This may well be my first post and I'm resurrecting a semi-dead thread but I was curious if a consensus was ever reached on the best place for someone new to the area? I'm coming in February from China Lake and have been looking hard at Elan and Abberly Crest. I'm leaning towards AC just because of the proximity to the base.

I have a friend that lives in the condos there. He hasn't siad anything bad about it. Say good bye to China Lake! We have vegetation!
