I think they just said on the news that one of the kids was 10.. why is a 10 year old putting crap in their mouths? My kids won't be playing with theirs anymore.. they don't work worth a crap anyone.

I'm almost 40 and put things in my mouth, especially when I'm working with beads, needles or anything craft related.

I don't think it is asking too much to not have products that can poison a person.

Good grief. :ohwell:

You know, I have dental work that is a direct result of chewing on pen caps and I used to take the little plastic dot out of the back part of a Bic pen and chew on that.

I would have long been dead had that contained poison.

And I didn't chew it because it tasted good. I just chewed it to chew it, anxiety maybe.

just nervous energy.. i used to do the same thing. I would never swallow it.. I used to chew off the erasers off my pencils..but that was back in the 2nd grade too so. But yes, I see your point.

If it were a matter of them being a choking hazard, they wouldn't have been recalled. I mean, they are supposed to be tiny beads and you aren't supposed to let little kids have them.

But a chemical thing is different. I have one child who is a little older and does tend to put things in his mouth. He's the one when he grows up will be chewing on pen caps, it's just something he does. He's old enough to know not to swallow things, but this is a nervous habit.

Plus, you are supposed to get these toys wet when you are playing with it. The kids are getting this chemical all over their hands. I bet lots of kids were feeling a little loopy after playing with this toy and their parents chalked it up to some childish silliness and never suspected.

I wonder how many sexual predators tried to (or did) purchase the aqua dots after hearing about this. Wouldn't that be scary? :eyebrow:

Yes, kids swallow things. Are you really this clueless? Or is it an act?

aquadots are meant for children of a certain age are they not? Usually on the outside of toy packaging it says the recommended ages. I think by the time you are 5 or 6 stuff that is a toy is not food! I mean kids should know the difference between toys and food. I know I will be raising my child that way. Then again she is 2 and I couldn't imagine buying her aquadots. WE stick to crayola crayons and play-doh and thats only when I can supervise so she doesn't stick anything into her mouth. Prevention is key!

Here is why we blame Aqua dots! THEY ARE POISONOUS!!!! I don't care if my kids don't shallow them. Why is the company producing a product for KIDS that has poison in it.

Right, the toxic chemical in Aquadots you don't have to eat......because once you touch them with your hands you already have the toxin on you and hands do go in mouths. I absolutely agree 100%. The toy manufacturing company should have looked into it a little more before they put toys on the shelves. But then again you could say the same thing about all the cute little dora and sesame street toys with lead in it. I blame Hong Kong/China. :yay:

Good, since you're such the great mommy let her play with your Zoloft, Xanax, and Valium. After all, there's no danger since you will teach her not to swallow things.

If you think your kid isn't going to swallow things you are naive. Especially things that look like candy.

If we know that something is dangerous, and we know that it is normal for kids to swallow things, why would we want it around our kids? You're just arguing this to be a PITA, aren't you?
