When I moved to Southern Md, most of the locals I knew were old Colt fans and hated the Skins. Most of them adopted the Ravens when they moved to B-more from Cleveland. I may be offbase but I've always thought Raven fans outnumbered the Skins fans in So.Md.

I've always gotten the opposite impression - except when I was working at Calvert Cliffs, and there were a lot of transplants from Baltimore.

I'm originally from Baltimore, so I was always a Ravens fan more than a Skins fan - but I've always liked the Skins too. I don't see why I can't have 2 home teams. (Double my chances of being happy at Superbowl time).

I guess I have to start rooting for the Cardinals now though :ohwell:

This brings up an interesting question...

Why will you swicth teams when you move? I don't think I could ever root against the Redskins, I have been watching games (with the sound turned down listening to Sonny, Sam & Frank of course) as far back as I can remember... I just could never switch... I think...:lmao:

Go Ravens!

Time to make a run at the superbowl!

As long as the games are not on Fox 45, you can see them. Otherwise you are at the mercy of the Redskin's schedule and whether Fox 5 decides to broadcast the Ravens vs. "whateverhapplessNFCteam."

Or the opposite..I grew up a huge baseball fan and the Washington Senators were my team. I hated the O's(mainly cuz I didn't like Chuck Thompson). I really didn't start supporting the Orioles(or watching baseball) until 10 to 15 yrs after the Senators left for Texas. Really could care less bout baseball now.

So you did not like the O's mainly because of their broadcaster? Very interesting, there are certain broadcasters I refuse to watch call a game (football, I don't follow baseball at all)... If I want to watch the game bad enough, I will just turn the sound down...

Weren't a lot of the Ravens games blocked out or not televised for some reason? I seem to remember not being able to find them on the TV several times last year.

Well, the easy answer: I'm not going to switch.

The Ravens have always been (well, as long as they've been around anyway - and it was the Colts when I was a kid) my first love. They will stay that way. And when either the Redskins or the Ravens play the Cardinals, I will root for the Skins and the Ravens.

But if I'm going to be in AZ, I want to root for my home team so that I can go to all the games and root for my team.

Which is why I'll never move to Boston or Miami. Everytime a Bruin gets a tooth knocked out (especially by a Capital), I'll be the only obnoxious idiot in the stands cheering. Whenever a Dolphin gets driven into a goal post (especially by a Raven), I'll be the only idiot in the stands cheering.

I'd try to keep my enthusiasm to myself - but I never can.

And no matter how hard I try, I can't force myself to like any Boston or Philadelphia or Pittsburgh or New York teams.

Not that I've ever really tried.

Is that why the Redskins beat them in the pre-season last year?

Pfft.

Preseason is like the part of the Victoria Secrets catalogue that shows the pants. It just doesn't matter.

How come all the Baltimore fans despise Irsay but somehow it was okay to steal someone else's team? They don't even belong in the league. The Ravens make me ashamed to be a Marylander.

I wouldn't go as far to say that. They did win a super bowl. I just think The Redskins have a much bigger following than The Ravens.
