Are the jellyfish in yet?

We've enjoyed using the beach on base the last few weeks but know that the time is coming when there will be too many jellyfish to safely swim.

Anyone know if they are starting to come in yet and ruin our swimming?

Thanks!

The yellow jellyfish are in abundance in Long Island Sound. They get to be about 5" across, and are weeks earlier this year than normal. They sting, but aren't bad. The ones that really get you are the purple Lion's Mane jellys. Their sting can pack a wallop.

My favorite is the comb jelly, Ctenophores. When they are in, you take a row boat out at night and as you dip the oars and move forward, you leave a bio-luminescent trail behind you. Spectacular.

I was in the water Sat. evening and there were no J-fish. Still have about 3 more weeks before they show in numbers.
