I know what you mean about us continuing to import oil from them while pointing fingers and I'm all for drilling and find our own sources of oil but I don't know that there's as much there as we would hope. People talk about ANWR as if it could supply us all of our needs forever but that's not the case. I know there are reports out there saying all sorts of different things about ANWR and that's the problem. No one knows.
Arctic Refuge drilling controversy - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The truth of the matter is this. If we don't drill we will never know. If there is as much oil there as experts think then we can reduce our dependence on Foreign Oil which would reduce oil prices world-wide. Reducing prices world-wide would allow the US to control the amount of Oil (barrels) we produce while at the same time continue to import oil at lower prices.
Leaving the oil in Alaska untouched and untapped will give control of productivity and therefore prices we pay at the pump to nut like Chavez in Venezuela and others like him around the world.
What we need is a President and Congress who will tell the environmentalist that drilling the oil in Alaska and off the Coast of California is in the best interest of America and America's National Security. As such, your opinion, while considered, will be ignored.
Secondly, congress should compel the big 3 oil companies to take some of their record profits and spend them on infrastructure like REFINERIES... This country has not built a new refinery in the US Since 1976.... That would be 32 years... There is no oil shortage in the world there is a shortage of refined fuels and as such the big oil companies can continue to rake in record profits taken on the backs of hard working Americans.
