Are your gun rights worth some of your time?

From an email I got. Now is the time. All the research is done for you. All you have to do is cut and paste some emails and make one phone call. Do something.

Write or Call - This Week

Are your gun rights worth an hour of your time and less than $4 in postage?

Well, are they?

We have 9 possible yes votes and we only need 3 of them. We can easily get the 3 votes we need if they get enough letters from voters.

When you write a letter to a Delegate they will file it with other letters on the same subject. If everyone getting this email just wrote a one-page letter to each of the Delegates listed below then every one of them would have to buy a new file cabinet.

Emails take up no space. Yes, if they get a lot of emails they will notice. However, they will just file them in an email box where they won't be seen.

Phone calls take up their time, and they will usually mark down the numbers of calls they get for and against the various bills. Phone calls are very important.

Letters are the most effective. They take up space - especially when received by the hundreds.

We don't know what the November elections will hold. If Ehrlich doesn't get reelected it is likely that we won't see any possibility of passing a good gun bill in many years. This may be your last chance. Are you going to waste it?

The hearings are on Wednesday. They may vote on these bills at any time after Wednesday -- days or weeks. The 9 Delegates below need to hear from you ASAP -- until the vote takes place. You can write and then follow up with a phone call, or call and then follow up with a letter. Ask the Delegate to let you know how s/he intends to vote. Don't let them tell you that because you are not in their District that your views are not important -- if they don't vote for it then your representative won't have the chance to vote on it as his constituents want.

Please write, call and/or email the Judiciary Committee members listed below and ask them to support these bills. Do it now - don't put it off for a better time.

Suggested form of letter. Please change to suit and/or add a personal message. Be polite and respectful.

Dear Delegate (Last Name),

The following bills are extremely important to me:

HB-12 (Repeal Ballistic Fingerprinting),

HB-14 (Repeal Integral lock requirement),

HB-529 (MD Constitutional Amendment - Declaration of Right to Keep and Bear Arms),

HB-1163 (Maryland Shall Issue CCW),

HB-1382 (CCW Reciprocity with other states),

Please respond and let me know that you will support these common sense bills.

Sincerely,

Speaking of gun rights... I finally had to go to the number 2 guy at the Clay County Sheriff's Office to get them to take action on the prick who stole my Beretta 96, but they finally completed the investigation, got the kid to take a polygraph test (which he failed) and got a confession from him. They arrested him last Sunday, and I have to call the State's Attorney tommorrow to square away the charges. I am happy even though I'll probably end up having to buy another model 96.

I guess they don't offer an "F-" grade. That would give us something to strive for down here. :howdy:

Ok... now I'm really pissed off! I just got off the phone with the State's Attorney's office, and here's what I've learned. Even though they have statements that the kid who stole my pistol was carrying it concealed without a permit, that he drove into a residential neighborhood and fired the pistol illegally, and sold the stolen pistol to someone, the only thing they are going to charge him with is grand theft of a firearm as that's the most serious charge. Can you believe this!!! Once again... what's the point in all these new laws if you can't use the ones we've already got!

Which delegate on the list would i send my letter to. I live in Charles County.
All of them. That is the Judiciary Committee.

Please, if you are thinking about doing this, do it quickly. The hearing was the 8th, but the bills are not out of committee yet, so they are still taking written comments and testimony.

A committee member said they had gotten 500 emails in favor of the new Assault Weapons Ban. The pro-gun community is trying to generate 5000+. You can mention that you are against any gun bans including the new Assault Weapons Ban in your emails to support the other bills.

Keep it respectful and short.
