Asheville police destroy aid station

Well, bad optics, but the goal of the 'aid station' is to reduce the effect of teargas and to get the 'soldiers' back into the fight.

Well....

"We apologize for not being able to confiscate these supplies last night," Zack said in a news release. "Over the past three days, APD has tried to eliminate objects that can be thrown at protesters and law enforcement. Because water bottles, in particular, have been continuously used over the last three nights, officers destroyed them. Officers also searched for potentially dangerous objects, such as explosives."

He said the medical station was on private property without permission of the owner.

Honestly, these anarchist AntiFa rioters lie. They commit crimes and assault people, then tell the press that they dint do nuffin and the 5-0 just picked on them for no reason.

It's impossible to form an opinion based on their word alone, unless you just want to confirm some bias.

This reminded me of 1 of our day trips around the SW US. On a road we kept seeing gallon jugs of water along the guard rail. Turns out people put water out for the illegals so they can quench their thirst as they elude border patrol. And there were dozens of the jugs along a few miles of the road.

Are they trying to make this as bad as possible?

There's a response by the Chief of Police :
Asheville Police Chief David Zack issued a statement about the incident at 4:34 p.m. June 3, noting that the community expects and deserves transparency and accountability.

"As the Chief of Police I understand the concern has been raised over the destruction of water, food, and medical supplies," Zack said in the statement. "The Asheville Police Department would always prefer confiscation over destruction. We apologize for not being able to confiscate these supplies last night."

Over the past three days of protests, the department "has tried to eliminate objects that can be thrown at protesters and law enforcement," Zack said.

"Because water bottles, in particular, have been continuously used over the last three nights, officers destroyed them," Zack said. "Officers also searched for potentially dangerous objects, such as explosives."

I'm accused of making assumptions about stuff, taking the aid workers word for stuff that might not be true. I would argue that those on the side of the police are doing the exact same thing. Might be they were helping folks actively engaged in fighting the police, I say we have no idea. As for being unpermitted and on private property, man, there are people doing unpermitted rioting for effs sake. And I'm having a hard time with "OMG, WATER BOTTLE MISSILES!!!!" Seems like a cop out, pardon the expression. Seems like someone made a bad call and the chain is backfilling excuses. Wait, isnt that how the hell we ended up in this frekin mess in the first place?!

Yep, and it’s exactly what happened at St. John’s church the other day too.

Great! Let me just freeze a bottle of water and smash you in the head with it, see if you don't change your mind. If you still have a mind to change, that is.

They were outside and not frozen. They were also scared of bandages? Why destroy bandages?

Water bottles don't kill people. People kill people.

We live in a civilized society where even the poorest person can afford ice, and typically knows how to make it. So when I run across someone who doesn't know the recipe for ice it throws me for a loop.

now this is fun watching you dig the hole deeper.

Ok, explain how those dirty antifa were going to turn bottles of water into ice on the side walk on a summer day in North Carolina. :yay:

Not concerned with being hit by a water bottle? Let's do some math for the mentally challenged:

1 fluid ounce of water weighs slightly more than 1 ounce. So a 8 fluid ounce water bottle weighs 8 ounces, or 1/2 pound. Most water bottles are 12 fluid ounces so that is 12 ounces hitting you in the head. Considering a baseball only weighs 5-5.25 ounces, I'm not to sure a 12 ounce water bottle will feel very nice. Most people can throw a baseball around 60 to 80 MPH. Throw it at half the speed of the average baseball player (not a pitcher) and you get 12 ounces hitting you in the head going 30-40 mph. We won't even get into the math of throwing the bottle in an arc and letting gravity speed it up before impact.

See the problem with water bottles as weapons now?
