Not me. Pelosi and Rangel have some nerve calling Bush every type of despicable name they can think of and it is OK because they are Americans, but Chavez can't because he isn't?vraiblonde said:I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt on this one. Nancy especially almost had to say something about this.
Of course, you're right that it doesn't hurt that it's an election year.

I see what you are saying but I disagree. Chavez is, was, and always will be a thug and a pig, he is not a dignified, civilized head of state. I expect him to do and say what thugs and pigs do and say. I cannot get mad at a dog for crapping on the floor because that is what dogs do. But if you did it I would be shocked.vraiblonde said:The short answer is 'yes' - only WE can insult our President. Those foreign freaks with their Leftist governments better shut the hell up. ESPECIALLY when they're waltzing around our country running their mouths.
To be honest, if it weren't for the ugly rhetoric coming out of Pelosi, Dean and the rest of the Democrats, Chavez wouldn't have thought he could come to our country and say things like that about our President. You should see the DU thread on this topic - it would made you cry. They're calling Pelosi a right-wing whore, saying Viva Chavez and stupid #### like that.
Pathetic. And frightening.
No, we're not - and that's the point. Chavez wasn't at some rally, he was at the UN General Assembly. If "the powers that be" just let him spew his crap without repurcussion, then the Iran dude will take that as a sign that he can do the same thing, then the next guy, then the next. Pretty soon there's no "general assembling" going on and it's just a political rally.Bustem' Down said:Are we all in third grade now?
Freedom of speech and of the press has been sharply curtailed in Venezuela. Enforcement of prior restraint is not the culprit, but rather the inevitable consequences and risks to anyone who publicly fails to toe the official line.
Attacks on journalists and the media have intensified. Journalism has become a high-risk profession, and bulletproof vests and gas masks are now standard equipment. Even so, more than a hundred journalists were injured and a news photographer killed while covering the events of April 11, 2002.
Yet the Leftists on the DU are saying that Chavez was just...exercising his right to free speech and it shouldn't be condemned because, after all, we're a free country. When the government does not dare to commit these acts itself, it relies on its “Bolivarian Circles.” These violent groups have physically assaulted journalists, photographers and cameramen, destroyed their equipment and torched vehicles owned by media outlets.
