No, the choice to gear up or not.
If I lived by ATGATT, I would ride less. A lot less. I take a huge number of short trips, weather permitting, and I think therein lies the key to better riding; lots of stops and starts and low speed maneuvering, a lot. I, personally, would be a lower skilled rider if I adhered to ATGATT. Moreso, I ride more aggressively geared up. Much more.
ATGATT is bad. Right up until it ain't.
