Auto Charger for Acer laptop

I use my laptop on car rides sometimes and am going on a looong car trip in a couple weeks. The batt usually lasts about 2-3 hours. I am thinking of buying a car charger for my laptop. Are there any problems with using them? I am electronically challenged, just want to make sure I am not going to fry my laptop or something!

Look at you home charger.
On the label it will list the output voltage, current and probably have a small diagram shoeing the polatity of the output plug.
My laptop says 19V ---3.42A and then a diagram of the round plug showing the outside is the negative terminal and the inside is the (+) positive terminal.

Since the output of you car's cigarette lighter is approximatly 13 volts DC, I would need to step up the 13v to 19volts. The current probably won't be a problem.

Look (I'd try Radio Shack) for a 12vDC to XXvDc (XX being the out put of your home charger) power supply than has the proper connecter.

... or just get an inverter and plug in your home charger

I think I found what I need on Amazon.com, it took forever to find anything that was specifically for my laptop. It matches the info on my home charger and says it is suitable for my particular laptop model. It says it protects against internal overheating, incorrect voltage, or short circuiting..I guess I am good then.
