I used to live in smc and moved to Anne Arrundel county. In the past bdrglass did all my work but since I moved I didn't realize they come here multiple times weekly. Anyway, long story short I needed a new back glass for my Lexus and was told I had to go to the dealer. My insurance only covered so much so I was going to have to come up with my deductible and another 500. I figured it wouldn't hurt to call bdr and not only did they come up but paid my deductible and used authorized parts. So in the end I paid nothing (they even paid deductible) and now my rear window defroster works once again.

Yeah, I would bet that if they pay up to $75 in deductible, they would rack those charges onto the overall cost. I think I would do a bit more shopping first. Ask for a written quote cause it's hard to argue with a liar after the billing.

Hey DooDoo1402.. here is a little lesson on how auto glass insurance claims work, since you obviously don't know what you are talking about. I second the information "KingFish" provided you...

First off, almost all glass companies offer at least some discount off of any deductible.

EVERY glass company submits glass claim invoices based off of NAGS pricing.. before they can submit their invoice, the insurance company tells them how much they are willing to pay on each claim, based on NAGS, less a certain percentage. Therefore, the invoice submitted on the policy owner's behalf is THE SAME PRICE regardless of which glass company is submitting the invoice. So, in short, no glass company can "rack those charges onto the overall cost"

Now if we were talking collision repair insurance claims, you would have a point. If any body shop ever offers to waive your deductible, run for your life! ..because they have the ability to rack the bill up by replacing things that don't need to be replaced, or even worse, not replacing things that are on the estimate to be replaced.

Naturally, insurance pays more than a consumer paying out of pocket, so most glass companies will provide a discount on the deductible, because in the end they are still probably getting more than they would have if they priced your glass replacement for your own personal expense.

Hopefully you'll understand now, because it's hard to argue with stupid.

I know this original post is a little old -but had a rock completely shatter the rear window of my 2006 Volvo station wagon today. I was considering BDR glass (The Glass Man) & I'm looking for feedback/recommendations. Thanks much.

I didn't receive any feedback/recommendations to my post yesterday. I called BDR Glass 'The Glass Man' yesterday, they came out today & replaced the glass. I highly recommend them, great job & nice folks.
