Sure does take a long time. I have yet to complete a "full scan"; vice a "quick scan," which only took a few minutes.
On average, how long does the full scan take?

Depends on many things. Size of your HD, amount of data/files etc. you have stored etc.

Bit Defender would usually take close to 2 hours for a full scan

Well, this AVAST malware scanner; or whatever it's really called; crept along for three hours and seemed to stop at a certain point and would not progress any further, so I stopped the scan and closed the program.

If Bit Defender only takes two hours; or two hours at minimum, I might try that. It's an anti-virus/malware protection, like AVG and Adaware, right?

Ran AVAST Before I Saw Your Post

Download the free version of Malwarebytes and run that first and CCleaner as well.

Started the program a couple hours ago. It appears to have cleared and cleaned up a whole host of problems, including corrupted files. 'puter's working okay so far.

I'm sorry, but I just can't get serious about a program named AVAST.

I have an image in my mind of some little bits running thru my computer with swords and eye patches yelling "AARRRRrrrgggg!!"

I'd recommend AVAST to anyone looking for a free AV.

Malwarebytes has solved issues nothing else would fix and I like CCleaner for once a week cleanup of unused/unnecessary files.

Of course, if a person doesn't update and regularly run their AV, it's useless.
