At times when it works. I can only get in from time to time on my remote machine. Remote machine is on XP pro and the laptop that im using to get on to the remote also has XP pro. It only works sometimes though.
Ever since I replaced my router, I haven't been able to connect my computers to each other on a P2P network. Recently found out the router reserves each machine with it's own outside-accessible IP address. I've been working with a few friends on streaming web video again, that way I can watch FOX NEWS or NASCAR racing anytime, anywhere. :yay:

I used to stream audio all the time, back when I was a sophmore in high school, and connect to the webstream at school. This router is just the damn most difficult thing to get through now.

Something isn't right. I remote to over 30 machines at work when I'm too lazy to walk the 1/2 mile there. :lmao:

Static ip addresses do help, I've found.

I use AVG free (for about 4 years now) and also the free version of Zone Alarm. No problems for me at all.

yeah we used a desktop management package used MS-Remote Desktop Connection and added 256 bit encryption :pete: like it was really needed, and I would talk calls from clients in Washington State .... routers and firewalls were not an issue ... the management agent would actually spawn the RDC to my desk top ... I could push out MS Patches each month and get a log of a system scan ...... we could also do Acronis backups if the Client bought the Licenses ....

Kaseya Revolutionizing Managed Services

It required a full blown SQL server for the version we ran :faint:

bloody licenses for that was expensive ......... ####ing M$
