babies without diapers

Well on CNN, the mom was holding her baby -- baby was NOT wearing any kind of pants -- and she said she had to hold her over the toilet every 20 minutes or so, or over this bowl looking thing. The reporter had this look on her face like "are you kidding?" and asked about whether or not she had time to fix dinner or give attention to the other children.

What was her reply?

Can you imagine that? When my Doug was an infant there was some nutty preaching about toilet training babies as young as 3 or 4 months old and she said the same thing - hold them over the potty every half hour or so.

Now it seems to me that that's not training the child, but training the parent. Anyone who's ever potty trained a kid knows that it's hard enough to get their cooperation at 2 years - 2 months is out of the question.

Someone i know, does that natural baby stuff. We were at a picnic once and she had the baby (4 months old) with no diaper, and all of a sudden, she walked over and held her behind a tree so the baby could go poopy. She said she rarely puts a diaper on her, she just holds her over the toilet :twitch: Definitely isnt something I'm interested in.
How does she know when the baby has to go?? I don't have any kids..but whenever I do, they are definetly wearing diapers!

You've lived in St. Mary's all your life, haven't you?
I actually dont live in St. Mary's, i live in PG, which could explain my behavior sometimes  But living here, I'm actually kinda surprised to have never seen a child go to the bathroom in the front yard. I've seen some strange things on my travels to DC, but never that....YET.

I've had the (dis)pleasure of seeing the grown-up bums do it many times at the empty lot by Dept. of Transportation/FAA on 7th on my way into work. :ohwell:

We parked in a garage near there once, and got lost walking around, i think most of the nastiest bums in DC hang out down there under that bridge. We ran into a few of them, it was like bumapalooza under there. I've seen people dumping garbage out their windows into their yards, always see people banging on construction buckets, cones and garbage cans, playing "music" for money. Thank God though, i have never seen THAT. They really need to clean DC up. I hate to think its our National Capital. :shakinmyhead:

There is a guy in Leonardtown, whom we refer to as Mr. Shiattypants. He wipes his pants on the walls inside the bathrooms at various buildings and also on the outside walls at the Leonardtown Library. The cops won't pick him up any more cause it takes them so long to get the smell out of their cars. He obviously needs mental health care, but nobody seems to get it for him. We also had a woman we named Ms. Ploppy Pants that dropped some stuff every few steps in a government building. Mr. Shiattypants and Ms. Ploppypants are no longer allowed to ride the mass transit system here in St. Mary's.
