had gas for 4 months and would scream bloody murder for 20-40 minutes 3 - 4 times a day.

Oh, you poor thing! I went through this, until I realized I wasn't burping her enough. I just couldn't bring myself to beat her on the back.

You know how baby's sometimes lose their hair? Well, when my son was a baby I was giving him a bath and using that soft brush from the hospital on his head and when I rinsed the top of his head, alll his hair rinsed away too!!
He looked like he had male pattern baldness. My husband was so surprised when he came home from work. He still gives me hell about scrubbing Camerons hair off.
:giggle: My little one's hair did the same thing! It's all back now though!
Thank God!

I loved the trick of pushing the legs up to squish the tummy some for getting the gas out. Works like a charm. The lying on the belly across your legs works well too. I love babies! All this baby talk has me remembering those days. Of course, I still have a two year old! lol

Matthew had gas, but it didn't last long thank God! Tummy time and pusing his legs helped a LOT! He would let out some sounds that didn't sound like they came froma 2 month old!

He has no problems now w/ gas ... we are in teething mode now! :frown:

Terry wash cloth with an ice cube in the center, secure with a rubber band, supervise.

I've heard that frozen bagels work but I was too scared to try it.

She's two already...:yikes: Where or where does the time go...:faint:

Hello :howdy:
Yup, she's two. My sister was just down for a visit and I gave her a ton of clothes for her 3 month old daughter and I packed away the cute duckie outfit from you and it reminded me of our gathering and how awesome the people on this board are/were.
My husband is on the baby bandwagon - and I try to remind him of the gas (verbally - not doing the physical act =)
I'm ready as well, we started practicing for it. :lmao:
Sadie had gas that did not seem curable. I gave her all those gas drops, Gripe water, even had her tested. My sister believes that her intestines weren't formed all the way and that caused the chaos. There was nothing we could do for her. We tried the massages and movement of the legs, but it didn't make a difference. You could feel her little tummy get hard as a rock and eventually it made it's way through, but it was tough on her and tough on us as well. I would get upset about it, and then get upset with myself for being upset at this little infant. It was a vicious cycle. But, we've been fortunate since then - so I guess we paid our dues early.

Newborns and gas....

A lot of times it caused by the mothers diet. You have to be very careful what you eat.

Each baby is different and brings with it it's own trials and tribulations... but also brings it's own unique joys and wonderments. It's the perfect time to be working on #2! Good luck and get to ---->

OMG - tell me about it. I was breast-feeding, so I cut dairy completely out of my diet. That was tough - it is surprising how many products have dairy. That didn't work. I am resolved to believing that it is something that comes with the territory for some. I tried every avenue possible. I have a few friends that also went through this with their babies.
I truly believe there was nothing we could've done for her. Just broke your heart to see her go through it.

That was his argument, might not have it with the second. Mine was, "It might be worse." At least the next round, God willing, I'll be more calm. You still hate it for the baby, but I guess it's got to run it's course.
My doctor sent her for an upper GI, I told him that she DID NOT have acid reflux, but he insisted we tested her. Of course it was negative.

Yeah, probably nothing that you could have done differently. My niece had terrible problrms with rock hard poop. It was awful. She would scream and when it finally came out, no lie, you could not mush it at all in the diaper and it was HUGE. Poor kids. They tried everything. She still has trouble sometimes and she is 8 now.
