They also used cloth diapers because they were cheaper, my mom just washed them out and dumped the poop down the toilet.
My hometown had a diaper service.
After mom passed away 30 SEP 2020, we were going through the house, she still had a bundle of them stowed in the closet.
My baby sister was out of diapers in 1966.

The shortage is from having a huge amount of formula recalled recently. Lots and lots of formula recalled. And of course, supply chain issues. Nationwide, formula is 40% out of stock.

I know jokes are meant as harmless, but please remember the families who don't have many options. It's not always a choice, and not every infant is being cared for by the mother.

The recall really hasn't been a huge problem, its our government keeping that huge plant shut down since mid February.
It will be another 3 months to get it back online.

Still trying to figure out why this is a government involvement issue to remedy something that should be remedied by the individual. Aside from the FDA, (in this instance), doing it's stated purpose of protecting the food supply from harming people. I understand there are those that want to blame the FDA for the shutting one manufacturing facility. However, if they were to allow it to resume prematurely, and infants started getting sick or dying, that would be a whole new news cycle in and of itself, creating more fear porn that TPTB do not want, because, then .... mothers would start looking for natural alternatives, and, once found, and becoming accustomed to making, would never return to the crap being pushed as baby formula.

how is that not directly related? Abbott had to recall all Sturgis MI-manufactured formula, and then shut down for a few months. That plant creates something like, 40% of the US' formula. That's a double whammy. All products they made in the past (can't remember their recall dates) were tossed, and they won't be able to get any new product on the shelves for another 2 months.

I know you just like playing devil's advocate, so you're just being a piece of crap to be a piece of crap but the assumption that formula is needed because mother's are lazy ... that's a new level. Eat crap and die.

With most recalls what product is warehoused with todays manufacturers-distrubution and store warehousing can buffer a lot of that impact load to the consumer.
With stuttering that size plant for months now there is no almost instant resupply from this manufacturing plant.
And within weeks we have a problem.

Abbott had an almost exclusive contract with the US Gov for WIC recipients. Once the plant shut down, the Gov had to source from other manufacturers to supply WIC recipients. You can see how this would directly impact supplies.

Testy testy? Why meany you be so? You mean to tell me, that after all the years, say the past 30-40 years, of girls/women growing up, watching other women use formula, (oooo, the great time saver), being told they have to be independent, enter the workforce, break through that glass ceiling, compete against men, become and be feminists, doctors suggesting and recommending formulas over breast milk during prenatal visits, all the advertising and brochures in patient waiting rooms, etc., etc., etc., hasn't had an effect on the decision making of women to use formula, rather than what nature provides? Not sorry and absolutely no apologies. But it is fact, (aside from actual medical reason outliers preventing breast feeding), that mothers have become lazy, and conditioned, to take the path of least resistance. If mothers were to actually truly research and understand, (also known as due diligence), the crap ingredients in manufactured processed formulas, they would never, NEVER, if they indeed really loved their child, allow their child to ingest such crap.

I was at two grocery stores over the weekend, both had signs limiting the quantity one could purchase. WIC recipients were excluded from the limits.
Yea.....

My sons mother was a stay at home mom,
She never produced.
if we couldn't have gotten formula to feed him the next option would have been to head down Trent Hall rd and milk one or two of Don Burrows goats...

I was extremely lucky - although I met challenges every step of the way, especially starting out at the very height of the pandemic when all professional help and support disappeared. It's a little hard to meet with a lactation specialist over video chat, although I did what I had to. Hardest 14 months of my life. Natural certainly doesn't mean easy, and other options aren't met without challenge either.

REP. KAT CAMMACK: Yesterday I was on the border myself and the facts on the ground are exactly how we have been stating them. Last week, I received text messages and photos from Border Patrol agents showing a stockpile of baby formula and there was complete outrage from the White House, CNN and other liberal outlets claiming that we were lying, so I decided to go down myself and film it. Lo and behold, not only was there stocked warehouses, but there were multiple stocked warehouses that have been not only filled with baby formula, diapers, wipes and clothing, but they have been doing this for months and there's more en route.

I accounted for outliers in my post.

Well goodness gracious. Who ever said having children and raising an infant/s was an easy task? Ever notice that most female mammals in the wild spend an inordinate amount of time with their young while feeding and raising them, and at the same time defending and protecting themems many human females just can't be bothered as much.
