Babysitters?

How do you find a babysitter in your area? When I was in high school I watched all the neighborhood little ones and loved it! I am looking for a teen to occasionally watch our toddler in our home for occasional date nights or work functions. Any ideas on where to find one!?

I would start by asking neightbors and friends who they use or if they nearby family memebers that would be interested.

Sometimes the parents of your kid's friends are willing to do it in trade for the same. Toddler though?? Ask other parents at their daycare who they use.

I am having a hard time finding a babysitter too... I guess teens just have too much to do now or something? I'm a bit picky though - I am a stickler about them having their first aid certification. It isn't hard to get - and I've even offered to pay for the class but both teens I knew (through their parents) just had too many after school activities :coffee:

Well, like the site someone posted, it's easier to find people with those cert's on those sites. It's hard...you don't wanna leave your child with someone irresponsible, etc., I understand!

Those sites are just too much $$ to join - and I can't imagine that a teen just looking for extra money would advertise on there? Maybe I'm wrong...

I've been pulling flyers from the grocery stores when I go in - so teens (or parents of teens that want to babysit) just put up flyers at the grocery store and put the little 'tabs' at the bottom with your number - I've got two that I'm going to call. Hopefully one will work out!

I used to babysit a lot as a teen - but my gosh, I never realized it was this hard for parents to *find* a babysitter!!

I run into the same problem. I did interview 2 girls a few years ago and one wanted $18/hour and the other $21/hour. They were probably good but no way would I pay that. It would be nice just to find another family and have them watch my kid one saturday a month and vise versa. I am just not very social and have a hard time meeting people. I have also found that teenagers usually dont like to babysit.

Good luck.

If anyone is looking for an experienced mature babysitter in or around Waldorf MD, please let me know. I'm a 26 year old mature female with experience babysitting many different ages. I love to play with children, help with school work, read books to toddlers and have a very fun active time with the children I babysit for.

I always had friends who had teenage people who would sit for me. And if they couldn't sit, they had a friend who would - this little network of sitters.

Have you tried asking someone you work with if they have a teenager who might want to pick up a couple bucks?

Noooooooooo, no need to be sorry at all! I was half joking about it, half laughing because I had looked at all of those sites, and in sticker shock! LOL.

It's okay! Thanks so much for reading, posting, and for the hints! I was actually at the NB Post Office today and was checking the board in hopes that someone would have a little thing posted...I'll post one tomorrow then :) Hopefully my two year old doesn't enjoy the "echoing" room as much this time...lol...THANKS for the 0.02, I didn't realize the post office was "the place" for these things!

THANKS!:yahoo:

thanks everyone and leonardtown
