Babysitting rate, or charge?

Mrs.Alexander

Expecting!
I have a niece, who is thirteen, and soon she'll be CPR and First Aid qualified, and she wants to start babysitting soon. So I was wondering, should she charge per child, or just have a standard charge. How much you pay you pay your sitter will help, too. Thanks :)

I pay my sitter $7-$8 an hour on average. If I'm running later than I told her I give her extra money. I only have one child.

You're a LOON :)
I pay my sitter $8 an hour for 3 kids.. All 3 are technically old enough to stay alone but no way would I leave them all alone together

I remember when I use to babysit years ago. It was given $20. That could of been for 2 hours or 15 hours. $20 seemed fine by me.

I would pay $10/hr for a trusted person with references. Otherwise, I would stay at home if none were available. Daycare centers are a good place to find a reliable sitter. IF you are willing to pay.

Teenagers today? Well, unless I knew them well, they would NEVER watch my children I had long ago.

It's a risk, no matter what you pay.

Our babysitter is a neighbor/friend - 14yr old.
$20. minimum (otherwise it's not worth the time)
or
$8 hr for 3 kids all over 7yrs old
generally hubby rounds up to 10's so she makes out on the deal

We use a babysitter once a month, for 3+/- hours (6:30-9:30 pm). 4 kids between 1-10 (almost 11). 3 of the 4 are self sufficient. We pay her $40.00.
