Back in the job market

Hello all,

I received news from my employer yesterday that the federal agency that I was hired to work for has denied my security clearance for reasons that have not yet been disclosed to me. I have two weeks to find another job with them that requires a DOD Secret clearance or no clearance at all.

I will put significant effort into finding a job within the company, but two weeks is a pretty small window so I am asking for your help. If any of you good people know of openings in the IT/IS field that might be a good fit for me, please send me a PM.

A little about me: I am IBM certified as an AIX Systems Administrator for AIX V5.2. I have four years experience as an AIX Systems Admin. I also have two years experience as C programmer and excellent Kornshell scripting skills. Additionally I have worked on a corporate help desk for Giant Food for about two years. I'm pretty bright (I know, some of you may disagree) and can adapt to new situations and responsibilities quickly. A quick look at my resume will also show experience with wireless communications, PVCS, Perl, and many other IT buzzwords that may apply to a company's needs.

If you are the praying sort, please remember me and my family as we go through a tough time. Thanks.

I can appeal it, but the details won't be shared with me for at least a month yet, more likely two. By then I hope to have work.

Dear tlatchaw,
Sorry for telling the men in sunglasses about you, the bull and the chinese midget hooker.
Sincerely,
Huntr

Seriously man, if I could help, I would. Send me your resume and I will forward it on to my brother-in-law and sister-in-law and see if they can help you out.

Can't you appeal??? I'm pretty sure ya can!
Normally you can, I just went through this myself last summer.. it took 3 months for the process to be completed.. and it was ONLY 3 months becasue mine was a simple case where I shouldn't have been denied in the first place, and didn't need a more thorough investigiation.. it could take over a year. Most places won't let you work during the appeal process. I was lucky enough that they put me out on leave with pay, and just as my time ran out (3 days left w/ pay) my appeal came back approved.

Good luck, and if I read this right, you currently have a Secret, and you were trying to get a TS?

Actually, no. No clearances before and not military experience (What!? A non-military guy in somd? :lmao: ) My employer just indicated that a DOD Secret clearance was much less sensitive than the level I was going for and that most folks can qualify (providing they don't have a bad record, which is true of me).

:roflmao: THAT's familiar!

Yeah, hopefully the name will rename the same for more then a year. Nothing like 3 different company names while sitting at the same desk and doing the same work!!
