Back Packs for Pre-K

Do tots need back packs for Pre-K? I thought they just needed a lunch box with a snack and drink.

Probably since they will need to bring home work to do and arts and crafts. I am sure that the school would let you know. It can't hurt to buy a cheap one just in case.

Our child did in Pre-K. They had a daily folder they brought home. The folder doesn't fit in the tiny little back packs either...

I bought my daughter a canvas BP at WalMart. Pretty decent construction, looks like it may last beyond this year. It's a little smaller height and width wise than a regular BP, but a lot narrower front to back, probably only 6" deep whereas the boys' both have BP that are 10" or more deep. Hers is big enough for a folder and lunch and not much more. Perfect for a kindergardener. And it was only $5.00.

Thanks for all of the info and suggestions. I suppose we will be back pack shopping very soon. I'm guessing if the girl gets her way, it'll be a princess one....

Mine is a Princess too. I found the backpack when I was in the store without her. Then I took her back to the store, walked right by the Hanna/Hello Kitty/Disney Princess ones and showed her the pink flowered one. She loved it. Used the reasoning that it is the right size for her to get her to walk past the character ones.
