The Humane Society of Calvert County has recently taken in a large amount of Beagles from a *breeder* in Charles county.

On Sunday October 5 from 9AM-1PM, they will hold a "Bagels With Beagles" event to try to find good homes for these wonderful doggies! They are fully vetted and ready to find fur-ever homes. Bagels, juice and coffee will be donated by local businesses.

To check out the adoptable dogs, go to
Humane Society of Calvert County - or call (410) 257-4908.

Hosting the event will be Pepper's Pet Pantry, located at 13858 Solomons Island Road in Solomons (in strip mall next to Boomerangs)

This is a wonderful idea. We currently have a Beagle who is almost 4 years old. He is our second Beagle, and I don't know of any other kind of dog I would rather have. They absolutely love people of all shapes and sizes and are great inside and outside, and are very loyal. Our biggest problem with ours is that he does not like other dogs, no matter how hard and how often we try to socialize him. We had him in puppy training as soon as he was old enough and had all his vaccinations and he wouldn't go near the other dogs even then. So, don't think I can bring home another one but I would love to.

For anyone thinking of getting a dog, please consider one of these Beagles, you will not be disappointed in your choice. Some are louder than others when they howl, but we think it is the coolest sound. They will be a great addition to your family.

I am in St. Mary's County and in no way associated with the Humane Society of Calvert County. Best of luck to you folks in getting these great dogs adopted.

I hope they all find good homes. My Beagle is 6yo and is a food monster. I'd get another one in a minute but my German Shepherd is a little to unpredictable around other dogs.

Hope it's a great event. Our crew won't be ready for another 6 weeks.

WOW! What a day! Great weather, great people, great food and lots of great dogs!!
After doing home inspections, two Beagles went home with their new families. There are 4 more pending adoptions. :yahoo:

Thanks to everyone that attended and helped out. The young adults from Huntingtown High School were awesome and everyone from the Humane Society of Calvert County are the best!

One of the ladies that put this together is a teacher at the high school. In fact, the students in the art dept made an awesome Beagle sign for the event. These young adults are usually active in various pet related events.

Hopefully, the other 4 adoptions will come through. Then we will have to start working on Wharf Rat's 8 pups.

It's wonderful to hear that your event went so well and that the weather cooperated beautifully. Hooray! for the families who adopted those wonderful bundles of love. My beagle is in his favorite spot at the moment...on the back of the sofa where he can see out the front door, the sliders, and the family room windows, watching for any deer, rabbits, squirrels, foxes, cats, opossums, groundhogs, and any other animals that happen to come into our yard. He loves to chase them out of "HIS" yard.
