Barn Rental

A friend of mine is looking for a 'barn' wedding venue. She's already checked out Sotterly Plantation (this is definitely her favorite place, the place she's dreamt of, but the date's they have available aren't ideal and because it'd be so much later into summer and there's no A/C in the barn itself she's wondering what else might be out there), Flora Corner Farm (doesn't hold many guests) and she has an appointment with Bowles Farm this weekend (though I think their availability isn't until the end of summer and she's really hoping for a May wedding.....of course she's finding out most dates are already taken).

Anywho, just thought I'd check here to see if anyone had an ideas or recommendations

She's going to look at that place this weekend. The only thing with that is their first availability isn't until September and she's trying to be hitched before that so they can try for a baby right after

What does being married have to do with trying for a baby?
Now to try and be helpful:
They can try Summerseat farm or Knott's/Flat Iron Farm. I know they have barns and hold events but I don't know if they rent out the barns for those events.

I saw a old barn they could use. It should be fine as long as the wind doesnt blow too hard. :coffee:

Sounds shady and unreliable..........where is it?! :jet:

They would like to be married before trying for a baby as she would prefer not to waddle down the aisle :yay:

Sweet, thanks!

I think she's willing to pay someone to muck it up the day before the wedding

Thanks! I'll show her but it's not really 'barn-ish' like she's looking for. She loves wine, I suggested a winery but alas she wants a damn barn

Greenwell has one of the oldest standing 'bakky barns in the state (unless it fell down), as well as the horse barn.

Not too clear on the concept, are we?

I don't know of any barns that have a/c... Has she considered a winery...? We have a few in the area and I hear a couple of them are quite nice... T-Bone and Heather talked about one on the air one day I believe last year that did weddings... Might want to look into that..

Kris10, not sure where your friend is located but just attended a wedding here, in the spring beautiful location, and have attended several other weddings and receptions there, no idea what their schedule looks like. Not really a 100% true barn location as of having to muck out stalls. Convenient to Calvert, plenty of parking. Beautiful view, and grounds.

Try calling Cage Stable in St. Leonard - sometimes private barns will rent their places for venues. That place is beautiful and on the water.

I was about to suggest looking into local wineries or bed and breakfast places:

Running Hare Vineyards, A little bit of Tuscany and Napa, a beautiful Destination Wedding here in Southern Maryland. Running Hare Vineyard, fine wines, site rentals, a premier winery in Calvert County.

This is the only one I found that has an air-conditioned barn but they only have available dates in the fall of 2014:

Flora Corner Farm - Wedding Receptions, Wedding Ceremonies, Corporate Events

Yeahhhh I'm a dummy, I just looked it up again...didn't see it at first. I mentioned it to her, she's going to look into it...thanks :yay:

Right? Not that there's anything wrong with doing it the other way, I'm saying though, they're "planning" a wedding. Why would they....nevermind, you get it

Yeah, Sotterly doesn't have A/C but Flora does...it's coming down to available dates :yay:

I suggested Running Hare Vineyard in Prince Frederick, it's awesome. We went to a wedding there a couple years ago and seriously, it was absolutely beautiful :yay:

She actually mentioned making an appointment here yesterday. Thanks

That's a pretty cool suggestion, thanks :yay:

Running Hare is awesome, I did suggest this one already. She's such a wine-o, not sure how she has her heart set on a barn and not a vineyard

Woodlawn looks gorgeous :yay:

And she already checked into Flora, it's the date thing :ohwell:
