Battery operated TV & digital deadline

Having Fun!
A friend at work today asked me if I knew of anywhere that sold battery operated TV's that will be compatible with the new digital stuff. She keeps a battery powered portable TV at her house in case of power failures so she and her elderly mother can have some idea of what's going on in the real world and whether or not there's any idea when she will be "rescued" with power. It just occurred to her that once the new digital thing kicks in, her TV won't work anymore. She's pretty tech-savvy with computers/internet & couldn't find any newer models available that would be compatible.

I told her that I would post her dilemma her in hopes that one of the super-smart tecchies would have solved this one already. So, if anyone knows anything, please post here! I'll keep looking myself but you all know more about this kind of stuff than I do.

TIA! :howdy:

I have 2 tiny LCD tvs too....I use them when I loose power, and at the ball park!
I hate the thougth of having to toss them out when there is nothing wrong with them, but I guess after TV goes digital, they will no longer work.

Any suggestions on a batter powered replacement would be great!:howdy:

Buy a DAC (digital to analog converter). https://www.dtv2009.gov/

Might be moot.... just heard on the news that Prez Elect wants to delay the Feb implementation date, between the gov running out of funds for the converter program and other concerns. Apparently he's not the only one who wants to delay.
