BB and pellet guns

Look my ass glows!
"Opie the Birdman"

I never forgot the episode when Opie accidently kills a mother bird up a tree with his slingshot, and after going through his tearful period of guilt, makes amends by caring of her baby birds before they are able to fly off on their own...coulda been a BB gun!!

One more question, surprised nobody thought to ask it already: what kind of bb gun? There's a broad range of guns, some are fairly lethal and some aren't. My dad's old Daisy pump-action could almost be fired directly into your eye without injury. Very safe for all but the youngest of kids. The Crosman he bought for me could put a pellet through a 1/4" of plywood. Much more potential for life altering foul-ups.

Okay then, I never knew they made bb guns like this.

Good question. I Daisy I still have laying around is the same way- pretty harmless. The Beeman GS1000 I have is a completely different story.

Dad taught me to shoot (aim, rules, safety, etc.) with the Daisy when I was about 8. He wanted to do it younger, but Mom would've freaked. I was under constant supervision until he was confident that I'd obey the safety rules that came with it.

You want to talk about adult supervision! Almost to far back to remember my old man bought me and bro a BB gun and during one of those father and son moments of bonding, dear old Dad shot me in the Azz as I stooped over the tin can I had just knocked over with a wicked shot. :lmao: Years later at age 12 he made it up to me and let me shoot his 12 ga shotgun (not at his Azz) at some clay pigeons. Thats when the fun with guns really started :larry:

I got my son a Daisy BB gun for Christmas a few years back when he was 9. He is only allowed to use it while under adult supervision and we treat it like a lethal weapon to help educate him on the proper use of fire arms. My step-father bought a Cricket .22 that we would allow my son to shoot...problem is that boy is afraid of the little 'pop' it makes when it fires, so he refuses to try shooting it. I tell you what...that little Cricket is a neat little .22 rifle to teach children with.

Oh and I think that the ex-MIL should have talked to you first before showing your boy the BB gun.
