As a Husky/Malamute owner, I am not trying to belittle, I am just looking out for the breed I've had for so long. I have had to do a lot of submissive training to get them to adapt to brushing and bathing (no, they still don't like it), invest in a lot of vacuums and get used to fur in EVERYTHING.
VV, don't you have to get your dogs shots for the summer so they can tolerate the heat?

I shave alot of double coated breeds..and the owners swear the animal feels like a new dog...More energy and happy...I have never done alot of research on the matter but I have many regular (some just 1X yr) big dog double coated shave down customers that swear I am saving that dog...
I took my dog (Border Collie/ Lab mix) to the vet because she was constantly panting. The vet ran all kinds of tests on her ($$) and could not find anything wrong with her.
The following week I took her back to get groomed, and they screwed up and actually shaved her by mistake (I was pissed). Got home and noticed after she calmed down from the trip, she wasn't panting.
Now, Appy shaves her for me once a year in the spring time.
I hope I am not hurting her by doing this, she seems a lot happier (after I stop laughing at her).

From what I understand, my brother's Husky is more "comfortable" now having been shaved down, too. I don't know if he looked into any "cons" in doing it or not. I just got the pic via email. But I do know that Cane suffers from seizures (has had 'em his whole life) and I don't think the vet knows the cause. :ohwell:
