Berkeley is slammed for allowing NINE student groups to create 'Jew-free zones' that prevent speakers who support Israel or Zionism from being allowed on campus

Written by Berkeley Law Students for Justice in Palestine (LSJP), the bylaw is meant to ensure 'the safety and welfare of Palestinian students on campus.' It added that the organization will hold 'Palestine 101' training courses.

At least nine groups have adopted the rule so far, including the Berkeley Law Muslim Student Association, Middle Eastern and North African Law Students Association, Womxn of Color Collective, Asian Pacific American Law Students Association, Queer Caucus, Community Defense Project, Women of Berkeley Law and Law Students of African Descent.

Erwin Chemerinsky, the law school's dean since 2017, identifies as Jewish and recognizes that under this new bylaw he would not be able to speak.

'It is troubling to broadly exclude a particular viewpoint from being expressed,' he told The Jewish News of Northern California. 'Indeed, taken literally, this would mean that I could not be invited to speak because I support the existence of Israel, though I condemn many of its policies.'

People send their kids to schools that have and endorse these types of Socialist and racist organizations-------and then they have the balls to call others racist.

Of course, if you actually chase down the source article, you see this at the bottom:

Response from Dean Chemerinsky:

Kenneth L. Marcus’ article, “Berkeley Develops Jewish-Free Zones,” paints a misleading picture of what happened at Berkeley Law. There is no “Jewish-Free Zone” at Berkeley Law or on the Berkeley campus. Indeed, as Mr. Marcus advocates, and as I explained in a recent message to the Law School community: “The Law School has an “all-comers” policy, which means that every student group must allow any student to join and all student organized events must be open to all students.” I know of no instance in which in this has been violated or there has been any discrimination against Jews. I have been in regular contact with our Jewish students about this.

Mr. Marcus points out and identifies some student groups that adopted a statement drafted by Law Students for Justice In Palestine condemning Israel. But what he does not mention is that only a handful of student groups out of over 100 at Berkeley Law did this. He also does not mention that in a letter to the leaders of student groups I expressed exactly his message: excluding speakers on the basis of their viewpoint is inconsistent with our commitment to free speech and condemning the existence of Israel is a form of anti-Semitism.

Finally, it is important to recognize that law student groups have free speech rights, including to express messages that I and others might find offensive.

But heaven forfend you spend a modicum of effort to actually chase truth.

I'm glad the European AMerican Law student association chose to remain out of this fray. You don't hear much about them(EALSA) as they don't get into these controversial issues. They just mostly go about their day on campus trying to get ahead like the rest of the world. Studying, trying to get good grades, avoiding controversy, not being divisive or hating on this group or that group.

What, are they going to teach them how to properly strap themselves with explosives and blow themselves up? That's a steep learning curve.
They teach their kids that in kindergarten. Instead of learning how to read and write, they teach them how to kill the Jews.

Jeff Dunham: "But you're dead."
Achmed, the Dead Terrorist: "No I'm not. I feel fine."
Jeff: "But you're all bone."
Achmed: "It's a flesh wound."

By the way, what do they use to recruit their youth to become murder-bombers? I'm thinking the whole 72 virgins thing might not be as effective with kids.
