See, that's the thing: these articles are written for Democrats by Democrats. Average Americans don't read Travel & Leisure. So if this mag wants to direct it's proggy audience to somewhere other than FL, I'm completely okay with that. In fact, I encourage it. But also most people understand that these lists are bullshit and ignore them.

I read that list as "best beaches my friends and I have been to", not "best beaches".

The 2 in NY, Coney Island and Rockaway, I would NEVER visit for the beach. Maybe for the boardwalk or rides, but not for the beach. There are so many better beaches just a few miles east, Fire Island National Seashore, the Hamptons....
