Best Buy "Re-stocking" Fee

BestBuy sucks goat ####.

:yeahthat:

The advice I always give it to go to Best Buy, find what you like, ask lots of questions and if you want to buy the item you are looking at, go home and get it online or see who else carries the same item. Oh, and don't forget to tell the sales staff exactly what your plan is. I've been burned by Best Buy too many times and will NEVER buy from them again. Oh, and I had someone tell me they wanted close to $300 to clean viruses off of their computer. I did this for him, it took me 20 minutes. No charge!

In My Opinion
I dont get it?

couple weeks ago I bought a new sound system for my home theater.
I had lost the right front channel from the surround on the old one.

what I ended up getting was "theater sound" it turned out not to be true surround.
so, after setting it all up and figuring out my ignorance, I repacked the system along with the new sub woofer I bought to go along with it.

Brought it back and returned it no problem, no restocking fee, nothing.

Most stores do this. Before they can put the item up for resale it has to be checked and inventoried. The store can either raise all their prices to cover the cost or just charge theCi folks that are incuring the cost.

Circuit City didn't do this...until they had to in an attempt to try to keep up with Best Buy. Best Buy also started the trend of 'materials' fees in car audio installation. These tactics have allowed for them to advertise lower prices and ultimately led to Circuit City going out of business, since most consumers will go for the lower price rather than the better value in the long run.
