Best frozen pizza

I have YET to try a frozen pizza - or even those mildly refigerated ones at ALDI - that even comes close to your run of the mill average pizza from a typical pizza place.

I started to say "and you never will" but this frozen pizza was better than Dominos or any other chain like that.

Motor City Pizza, you get it at Walmart
Tried one tonight, got the 'garbage' topping version.
Def good. Best crust of any so far, very similar to a Sicilian. And I only rated it good because I used a toaster oven to bake it, and that was a mistake. Overdone on the edges, underdone in the middle. I'll need to get another and try it again. for the best result.

Thick, crispy edge, soft center, plenty of toppings, but if they have a plain cheese, I'll get that and add my own toppings.

Motor City Pizza, you get it at Walmart for $8.

I was never a big frozen pizza person because they all suck and aren't worth the calories. When I want pizza I'd rather do it right and hit up a pizza place. But the internet said Motor City was the best of them, so yesterday I tried it.

OMG! YUM!

It's a deep dish pizza in its own little bake thingy. You have to use the oven, not the microwave. But this is a damn fine pizza. The crust is crispy/chewy like it should be and I didn't have to add toppings because they were already generous. If you're a NY style purist you won't like it, so don't bother unless you can pretend its loaded cheesy bread and not get too wrapped around the axle about it.

I'll most definitely buy this again. :yay:
Mrs Sam is ordering one now with Walmart Plus.

Dominos used to be so good 30 years ago and the buffalo wings were a good deal. They changed their recipe for both a while back and the pizza makes me nauseous now. The wings seem mealy as well.

As far as frozen pizza, the Motor City ones are pretty good. I still have a soft spot for a standard Red Baron cooked with my old trusty Presto Pizzazz cooker. That thing can turn the worst frozen pizza into a masterpiece.

I didn’t write about it.

It was - ok. Probably won’t order again though.

But I’m also not a fan of most deep dish pizza - IF by deep you mean - lots of dough. That was this. It was deep enough to actually have sauce in it - most frozen pizzas have so little after cooking, you really need to add it.

But it was mostly bread. Last time I was actually IN Chicago and had a deep dish pizza, there was so much cheese it was almost soup. One serving was a proper meal.

So - not bad for frozen- but won’t be reordering.

Pizza dough is about the easiest thing to make yourself, other than a few pizza joint pies I've always made my own. One of my personal favorites is a corn meal dough pizza another is corn meal dough with venison chili, cheddar cheese scallions, and Jalapenos! YUM

Publix has dough balls you can buy in the bakery that get rolled into pizza crust. My issue is that my oven doesn't get high enough to crank out a good pizza. Supposedly the Ninja makes killer pizza, so I'll try that at some point.
